Fujitsu mobilises Australian business with launch of ‘Fujitsu Mobile Business’

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, November 16, 2005

Fujitsu today launched Fujitsu Mobile Business, a simple and complete platform for mobile services. Fujitsu Mobile Business combines Fujitsu’s expertise in developing world-class mobile solutions with the Fujitsu mProcess Solution for delivering mobile services. Fujitsu Mobile Business will be offered as three distinct packages; Mobile Professional; Mobile Field Force; and Mobile Enterprise.

With Fujitsu Mobile Business, Fujitsu will offer industry specific solutions for government, health, logistics, manufacturing and field workers in the utilities, retail and financial services sectors. Fujitsu will also work with partners, such as Nokia (see separate release), Symbol and Microsoft, to provide the capability for Mobile Business.

The Mobile Professional package provides an alternative to, or migration from, Blackberry for customers seeking basic email and personal information management (PIM) services. Alternatively, the Mobile Field Force package provides the capability of Mobile Professional supplemented with industry specific solutions for field workers, built on the Fujitsu mProcess Solution. Finally, Mobile Enterprise is a Fujitsu-hosted, fully managed service which provides the capability of Mobile Professional and Mobile Field Force at a per user price, based on a minimum term.

Fujitsu mProcess is a solution for linking mobile workers, including field service engineers, sales people, logistics and health care professionals, into the operative processes of their organisations. It offers total mobile connectivity to, and integration with, existing back-end systems and applications and is customised to meet the day-to-day needs of the task-oriented mobile process worker.

Rod Vawdrey, Chief Executive Officer, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand said, “Mobility has a profound effect on the way people do their job and the way we will deliver ICT in the future. At Fujitsu we’re helping our customers change the way they do mobile business while helping them understand that mobile business is about more than just gadgets.

“At Fujitsu around 200 of our own service engineers are using the mProcess Solution every day to support our customers. By empowering our service engineers to link in to the operating processes of the business, we have increased customer satisfaction and productivity while reducing support costs. Based on our own experience of using the mProcess Solution we know that mobile services can provide real business value, and this is only set to increase.”

Gene Echols, Fujitsu Mobile Business, said “With Fujitsu Mobile Business we are offering customers a complete end-to-end mobile solution, making the transition to mobile business a simple and complete proposition. By also introducing Mobile Enterprise we’ve taken this one step further by offering the solution as a fully-managed service.”

Gene Echols will be speaking at the Gartner Symposium, Sydney Convention Centre, at 2.30pm on Thursday, 17 November 2005 on the topic of mobile business. If you are interested in attending, please contact Liz Greene at Fujitsu on 02 9113 9252.
