Fujitsu Partners with SAP for Local Authorities Software Renewal

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, October 26, 2005

Fujitsu Australia Limited – SAP and Fujitsu today announced a strategic ISV reseller partnership for Australia and New Zealand, which will deliver a fully integrated software solution to the local authorities sector, which is designed to improve utilisation of public funds and support service delivery. The combined solution will provide existing and new customers with access to a best-in-class business solution, enabling employee self-service and advanced reporting and data analytics capabilities.

Fujitsu will transition its current legacy offerings into a single solution based on SAP’s mid-enterprise and application development software. The relationship will provide Fujitsu’s existing customers and prospects with an SAP qualified upgrade path based on Fujitsu’s in-depth industry knowledge, SAP best practice methodologies and market leading business software.

“SAP continues to innovate in a consolidating marketplace to ensure that customers have access to the best business solution for them,” said Geraldine McBride, CEO and Managing Director, SAP Australia and New Zealand. “SAP’s vision for a Business Process Platform enables partners like Fujitsu to access market leading software capabilities and research and development resources. Clients are provided with increased options and SAP ISV partners become well positioned to determine their own commercial future in significant software markets.”

Today, more than 80 local governments and water authorities in Australia and New Zealand run Fujitsu’s local government software for financial and land information processes, which includes a range of local government specific rating, billing and service delivery functions. Fujitsu will offer concessions to existing customers that want to make the transition to the new applications. The agreement establishes Fujitsu’s extensive sales operations infrastructure as SAP’s channel to local government in Australia and New Zealand.

Fujitsu will join a growing number of independent software partners worldwide that are developing their own solution on the SAP Business Process Platform, an SAP innovation which provides software components and infrastructure to partners that want to custom build new SAP applications for a specific market opportunity.

Rod Vawdrey, CEO, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, said; “This partnership combines Fujitsu’s in-depth industry knowledge and market presence in local government with SAP’s business process expertise and intellectual property. We will provide clients and prospects with access to an exciting range of business solutions, which are tailored to the specific needs of the local government sector.”

“Fujitsu has listened to its customers and has created a strategy that will allow us to meet their expectations and requirements for best practice business process execution for years to come,” continued Vawdrey. “There is a lot of excitement out there about the business benefits this solution will offer and our overall alliance with SAP which is now generating significant new business for both companies.”

Fujitsu developers in Australia and New Zealand will build a new solution for core financial processes, using mySAP All-in-One technology and re-developing existing land information systems (LIS) on the SAP NetWeaver™ platform. The combined solution will provide clients with a clear and business-focused roadmap for advanced systems incorporating portals, e-commerce, business warehouse and employee self-service.

Fujitsu’s legacy applications currently serve the specific business requirements of local government and water authorities in Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and New Zealand.
