Fujitsu Announces New Products for Windows Server 2003 Launch

Fujitsu Australia Limited,Fujitsu New Zealand Limited

Sydney, April 24, 2003

Fujitsu Australia Limited will introduce a range of complementary technologies and services that enable customers to immediately realise the benefits of Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 platform.

"Windows Server 2003 is a significant technology milestone for Microsoft and Fujitsu is making sure its customers can gain immediate competitive advantage from its introduction," said Fujitsu's general manager marketing, Terry Carter.

Microsoft's new operating system is the first major release of .NET functionality and represents a major step-up in enterprise reliability, manageability and scalability. Key advances in Windows Server 2003 include its support for XML Web Services, business-critical computing and mobility.

Leveraging the new platform, Fujitsu has developed state-of-the-art, agile XML-based business solutions that build on Windows Server 2003's open standards and .NET capabilities. This includes a Microsoft .NET version of its Business Application Manager (BAM) tool.

Fujitsu's Microsoft Solution Centre will provide a centre of excellence and resource for customers looking to understand and evaluate Windows Server 2003 and related Web, intranet and portal integration possibilities.

Building on its heritage of providing mission-critical and resilient server hardware, Fujitsu has optimised its Intel-based PRIMERGY servers for Windows Server 2003. Fujitsu Siemens PRIMERGY servers range from economical blade servers to the highly scalable, eight-way T850 for customers that need 'always-on', secure IT infrastructure.

Born out of Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing Initiative, Windows Server 2003 delivers increased security capabilities. Fujitsu's Information Security practice is positioned to offer complete security solutions for the new Microsoft platform. This includes the full suite of consulting, design and review services to enable enterprise customers to identify and protect their information assets.

At the middleware layer, Fujitsu has enhanced its Interstage enterprise application integration (EAI) suite. With the release of Interstage for .NET, Fujitsu can maximise enterprise scalability and flexibility without impacting application performance.

Fujitsu has also it extended its development tools with NetCOBOL for .NET to allow customers to work with Windows Server 2003.

"Interstage for .NET provides the capability to extend Microsoft applications to the Web, integrate them or simply improve their reliability and throughput," said Carter.

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 will further underpin Fujitsu's ongoing commitment to mobile technology, enhancing the capabilities of devices such as its market-leading LifeBook notebooks and Stylisitic Tablet PCs.

"This platform is the next step forward in realising the IT industry's vision of the connected enterprise. Windows Server 2003 will bring .NET to major IT users and make systems more economical, scalable and reliable."
