Local Internet hosting company re-signs with Fujitsu data centre

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, August 23, 2002

Australian Internet hosting and e-business company, Destra Corporation (ASX:DES) has re-signed with the Fujitsu Internet Data Centre, relying on Fujitsu's extensive facilities and resources to provide the infrastructure for its Web hosting division, OzHosting.com.

Destra's OzHosting.com business is currently Australia's second largest Web hosting company.

Destra's Chief Executive, Domenic Carosa, said: "Since October last year, we have increased our hosting requirements by 150 per cent as Australian businesses increasingly turn to the Internet for online marketing and sales. With that level of growth, we need an infrastructure partner which has the depth of skills and technical resources to meet the changing needs of our Web hosting operation without any loss of performance or reliability.

"Fujitsu has not only achieved a seamless transition to ensure continuity of service after acquiring the data centre, but is applying its technology leadership and extensive outsourcing experience to add substantial value for customers."

Since acquiring the data centre from Exodus earlier this year, Fujitsu has extended the range of services on offer such as monitoring and management, remote hands, server builds and server support.

"As our infrastructure and services partner, Fujitsu offers a level of performance, reliability and scalability that is unmatched in the industry. That quality of service is critical when you consider that we host e-commerce sites for a number of Australia's blue chip corporations," said Mr Carosa.

Based in Sydney, the Fujitsu Internet Data Centre provides high-bandwidth Internet access with advanced capabilities to efficiently manage large-scale environmental issues like n+1 climate control, uninterrupted power supply, backup generators and fire suppression equipment.

Fujitsu Australia's CEO, Phil Kerrigan, said the company has ambitious plans to expand the data centre's services in response to increased demand from corporate Australia.

"We are continuing to make a substantial investment in the data centre to take advantage of the growing opportunities to provide hosted and managed IT infrastructure, backing up our world-class facilities with comprehensive management and monitoring services," he said.
