Fujitsu delivers the benefits of ITIL® (ITIL® is a Registered Trade Mark of AXELOS Limited) world best practice

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, July 16, 2001

Customers are set to benefit from Fujitsu's early implementation in Australia and New Zealand of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) framework, a set of process-based best practices for IT service management being quickly adopted by the IT industry internationally.

Developed by the UK Government's Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency, ITIL® is the world's most widely accepted approach to IT service management.

ITIL® provides a comprehensive, consistent and coherent set of best practices for IT service management, promoting a quality approach to achieving business effectiveness and efficiency in the use of information systems.

An early adopter of ITIL® in Australia and New Zealand, Fujitsu has already completed an assessment of its service management and is implementing a number of service improvement projects using the ITIL® framework throughout its Services business, with an initial focus on service support. Fujitsu has also launched a major training and certification programme for its staff to educate them on the requirements and benefits of the ITIL® framework.

Fujitsu Services Executive General Manager Peter McFarlane said. "As a leading provider of IT services, Fujitsu Australia has been quick to embrace the opportunity to adopt a set of world's best practice which spans the IT services spectrum. This forms part of our ongoing service development programme that is currently focussed on:

  • Developing a comprehensive Service and Technology Architecture
  • Implementing consistent processes and practices in service delivery which are recognised as best practice
  • Developing Solutions Centred Support through knowledge management and e-support initiatives
  • Providing quality services so that customers recognise and reference Fujitsu's services

"This initiative will deliver benefits for customers, including reliability, predictability in service management, more cost effective solutions and services, as well as creating internal cost savings and productivity efficiencies to Fujitsu. It will enable us to meet our customers business support requirements with responsiveness at all times when and wherever it is needed," Mr McFarlane said.
