Southmark integrated into Fujitsu Australia

Customers benefit from closer alignment with global parent

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, March 28, 2001

Fujitsu Australia's wholly-owned multivendor computing and lifecycle services subsidiary Southmark Solutions will be merged into Fujitsu Australia Limited and will become Fujitsu Multivendor Systems from 1 April 2001.

The alignment of Fujitsu Multivendor Systems with the rest of the Fujitsu family in Australia and New Zealand will strengthen its capacity to design, build and operate leading-edge technology solutions for customers.

Phil Kerrigan, CEO Fujitsu Australia, commented that the decision to integrate Southmark Solutions into Fujitsu Australia had been taken after a detailed review of its business processes and, most importantly, the benefits it would bring to its customers.

Mr Kerrigan said Fujitsu's Multivendor Systems group will continue to provide customers with the same diversity of brands and independent, impartial lifecycle management services for which it was renowned under the Southmark banner. The business provides a full range of IT lifecycle services, from systems definition through to roll-out.

"This is good news for our customers. While it will be 'business as usual' as they continue to receive the same high level of service and support and access to independent multi-vendor solutions from their existing account team, they will benefit from the closer alignment with the full-service capabilities of Fujitsu, one of the world's leading e-services providers," Mr Kerrigan said.

"Importantly for multivendor customers, our vendor independence will be maintained while being complemented by the global partnering relationships Fujitsu has in place as part of its strategy to deliver the best e-services capabilities to customers."

The transition from Southmark Solutions to Fujitsu will not disrupt customers' businesses. They will continue to work with their current account team and contact details remain unchanged.

From 1 April, Fujitsu Australia will assume responsibility for all of Southmark's contractual obligations with customers and suppliers.
