London, April 25, 2018 - Fujitsu in the UK has been recognised with two awards for its work to improve gender diversity. Fujitsu has been named in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2018, while Val Risk has been named winner of the Gender Champion category at the Business in the Community Gender Equality Awards 2018. Both awards are published today as part of Responsible Business Week.
Karen Thomson, Diversity & Inclusion Lead at Fujitsu, said, “We’re very pleased to have been named in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women this year. We want to ensure that Fujitsu is a place where all women can thrive, and in recent years we have focused on ensuring that we have a work culture that allows women to succeed throughout their careers. This includes promoting role models through our Women’s Business Network and making flexible working the default position for all roles, which saw us attract three times as many female candidates in 2017. We are dedicated to achieving full gender parity by 2030, and these awards are a brilliant recognition of how far we’ve come on that journey so far.”
“Strengthening our gender diversity is a key business priority at Fujitsu and our own incredible women are fundamental to that objective,” said Wendy Warham, executive sponsor of Fujitsu’s Women Business Network and VP, Head of Networks & Telecomms, Fujitsu. “Val has been central to driving forward gender diversity initiatives at Fujitsu and is an incredible role model herself for what women can achieve in tech. At Fujitsu, we want to increase the number of women both within our organisation and in technology more broadly, and women like Val will be central to that journey. We’re really proud that her work has been recognised by Business in the Community.”
Chloe Chambraud, Gender Equality Director, Business in the Community, said, “Congratulations to Val Risk on being named winner in the Gender Diversity category at the Business in the Community Equality Awards and to Fujitsu for being named in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2018. They have shown they are committed to enabling men and women to commit equally to society and recognise the power of having a diverse workforce at all levels. I hope other organisations will follow their example of best practice.”
Running for more than 20 years, the BITC Equality Awards celebrate outstanding progress in gender equality in the workplace and examples of best practice, impact, innovation and individual achievement.
