Fujitsu launches industry's first mobility controller for multivendor RAN operations and management

November 15, 2023

Fujitsu has launched Virtuora® MC, a comprehensive suite of operations and maintenance capabilities for RAN management and optimization. Virtuora MC, a critical piece of the Fujitsu Service Management and Orchestration offering, addresses the urgent operator need to manage multivendor networks efficiently, decrease rApps integration time and leverage network-wide data for analysis.

Multivendor 5G networks are sophisticated and precise, posing challenges for operators navigating the increasing number of vendor-specific element management systems and monitoring a wider range of key performance indicators and metrics. Virtuora MC solves these issues with a common Operations and Maintenance (O&M) dashboard and a single, unified RAN management plane for configuring, monitoring, and maintaining networks.

Virtuora MC also enables powerful functionality beyond network management: when combined with Virtuora AX AI/ML capabilities, Virtuora MC's monitoring and analytics tools can enable:

  • Predictive maintenance that analyzes historical data, identifies patterns, and predicts potential failures or performance degradations.
  • Continuous network optimization by leveraging vast amounts of data, such as device performance, user behavior, and network traffic.
  • Self-healing capabilities that continuously monitor network conditions and implement corrective actions automatically.

“Virtuora MC enables unified network visibility across open and closed 'multi-RAN networks,' while simplifying RAN management and accelerating rApp deployments,” said Greg Manganello, head of the network software and integration business unit at Fujitsu. “With the newest addition to our SMO portfolio, mobile operators can now more easily adopt Open RAN within their brownfield environment and still get unified control.”
