Our Highlight Sessions feature insights from global thought leaders and senior executives on how to reimagine a new future for business and society through digital transformation.
Fujitsu customers FedEx, Mizuho Bank and Mars PetCare will share their own digital transformation stories, while ServiceNow, SAP and Microsoft will outline how their global partnerships with Fujitsu are creating new possibilities for innovation, productivity and growth. We need to reimagine our business and society in the face of uncertainty. As a partner for DX, how will Fujitsu support its customers and provide new value based on internal practices? Hidenori Furuta, who leads the Solution Services Business, will introduce Fujitsu's initiatives to support the transformation of the New Normal Era.
Hidenori Furuta is the COO & CTO of Fujitsu Limited, and additionally holds the roles of Head of Global Solutions Business, Head of International Regions and also Chairman of Fujitsu Laboratories. He joined the company in 1982 as a systems engineer and was responsible for delivering large-scale SI projects in the manufacturing industry. He has since then held various senior leadership positions across Fujitsu’s global operations from leading the Global Delivery Group in 2014, consisting of over 8,000 delivery and offshore resources, to leading the Digital Services Business in 2018 where he supported customers’ digital transformation journey. In 2019, he was appointed the Head of the Technology Solutions Business and in charge of the entire solution services business and products. He has lived in London, UK, and is an advocate for driving change and diversity.

Mars Petcare, with operations in more than 55 countries and home to around 50 brands, leveraged a lightning-fast roll-out of new digital technologies and process innovation to create the resilience they needed in the wake of the pandemic.
In this session, Miao Song Global CIO for Mars Petcare, shares the story of how a focus on agility and prioritisation enabled Mars Petcare to overcome toughest set of challenges in business memory, and reimagine their customer experience. Supported by Fujitsu technology.
Miao Song is the Global Chief Information Officer of Mars Petcare, driving digital transformation and innovation. She was recently honored as CIO of the Year Europe by IDG. She has more than 23 years of global experience in IT industry, the most recent one with Johnson & Johnson as VP/CIO. She has broad exposure to the Oil/ Energy/Natural Resources as well as Consumer Goods and Health Care business, having worked for Royal Dutch Shell for 14 years, Nestle for five years and Golden-Agri Resources for two years.
Miao has been living and working in China, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Singapore and Belgium. She is a strong supporter of Diversity and Inclusiveness; she used to head the Netherlands D&I council, also led IT Women Leadership Institution in Johnson & Johnson.

In response to rapidly changing customers' needs in social and economic environment amid and post COVID-19 crisis, Mizuho is accelerating its business reform. In my presentation, I would like to talk about our new core-banking system "MINORI", which has been fully operating since the last July’s complete migration. I will also show you how we are striving to achieve “next-generation branches” in the retail banking business reform by taking advantage of “MINORI”.
Mr. Ishii started his career at Mizuho Bank in 1986. After serving at NY office for five years, and holding various roles such as HR planning, corporate banking (Transport equipment industry), global strategy planning, governance reform at the head office, he was appointed to the Executive Officer of Mizuho Financial Group in 2014. After the Managing Executive Officer/Chief Human Resource Officer of Mizuho Financial Group in 2015, and the Senior Managing Executive Officer (corporate banking business) of Mizuho Bank in 2017, he took his current post of the Senior Managing Executive Officer/Chief Digital Innovation Officer/Chief Information Officer/Chief Operating Officer of Mizuho Financial Group in April 2019.

In the face of huge shifts in global demand brought about by the challenges of 2020, FedEx Express has jumped forward to new places on its technology roadmap. In this session, Nik Puri, FedEx’s SVP of International IT, describes how FedEx Express, has helped create ‘value at speed’ for customers throughout the crisis. He shares how FedEx used a ‘leapfrogging’ approach to rapidly move to new technologies and adopt them across the business. And how Fujitsu, a long-standing supplier – and customer – of FedEx has supported them along the way.
Nik Puri is Senior Vice President, Information Technology Express Solutions International. Based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands, Nik is responsible for strategy and management of mission critical IT systems and resources within 200+ countries outside of USA.
Prior to his current role, Nik was regional CIO for Europe and the MEISA (Middle East, India, and Southern Africa) Region, setting strategic direction for IT architecture, priorities and culture. He also served as the lead for Global Integration of TNT, a $6.9B global express parcel delivery entity based in Amsterdam.
Nik assumed that position after serving as VP of FedEx Global Information Security, where he managed the IT Governance, Risk and Compliance team. He was responsible for ensuring the global protection of all customer, FedEx operational and third-party data, both within FedEx and with our select business partners. Under Nik’s leadership, FedEx became the first transportation company to be PCI compliant globally.
In 1999, Nik began his FedEx career as a product manager. After spending his initial years in Automation Marketing, he led the creation of the Corporate Strategy department and made significant contributions in quantifying business and financial opportunities for FedEx. In 2006, he became staff director of the Strategic Program Office, where he led the execution of various strategic programs that were sponsored by Executive Management.
Nik has a Master’s Degree in International Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (India).

Before joining ServiceNow in 2011, Wright spent more than six years with VMware, Inc. as vice president of technical services for EMEA. From 2003 to 2005, Wright headed up the technical division for Northern and Southern Europe at Mercury Interactive. Prior to that he spent six years at Peregrine Systems, Inc., where he held a variety of senior technical and marketing positions.

As Vice President of Global System Integrators and Advisory Consultants, Takuya Hirano is responsible for enabling and maximizing business value of the 18 most strategic partnerships at Microsoft. His team owns the strategy and worldwide execution with these key partners to jointly deliver solutions and services to enterprise customers to accelerate their digital transformation through Microsoft’s cloud offerings.
Over his 14-year tenure with Microsoft, Takuya served in several roles in the Japan subsidiary, including General Manager of Enterprise Services and then Enterprise Solutions and Partner Group, CMO of the Marketing and Operations group, and most recently as the President of Microsoft Japan. He also spent 3 years as the General Manager for the Multi-country Subsidiary within Microsoft’s Central & Eastern Europe organization based in Munich, Germany.
Before joining Microsoft, Takuya spent eight years at Hyperion Solutions (now Oracle Corporation), where he had responsibilities in Sales, Alliance, and Marketing. He also spent several years of his professional life in Silicon Valley, California with Kanematsu USA.
Takuya was born in Hokkaido, Japan and holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University.
Andrew is responsible for Fujitsu’s global business with Microsoft’s cloud services. Working with Fujitsu’s sales regions and global delivery centers, Andrew and his team drive strategy, offerings, skills, operational excellence and relationships with Microsoft. This team has overseen an 800% growth in Fujitsu’s Microsoft cloud business over the past two years.
With a strategic appreciation of key market trends, including cloud, IOT, automation, analytics and mobility, Andrew is focused on driving cross-functional collaboration and delivering solutions that allow businesses to innovate quickly.
Prior to his current role, Andrew was Head of Digital Infrastructure Services, leading a Fujitsu team based largely in Japan.
Having joined Fujitsu in 1997, Andrew has extensive leadership experience across delivery, sales support, architecture and development functions. He is committed to helping Fujitsu customers exploit the latest technology to drive successful transformation and practical business outcomes.
Stephen, who is an Oxford-trained economist, started his career in finance with a focus on emerging markets. In 2004 he founded a venture capital firm in Shanghai focused on clean energy and made two successful IPO exits (Renesola) on the London Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.

Before joining SAP, Karl worked for Microsoft and Oracle, and he remains an advisor to the Member Channel Think Tank. He graduated from Deusto University with a degree in in Business Management and has an MBA from the ICADE business school. He is fluent in English, Spanish and German.

Sarah-Jane has a DPhil in Geography & The Environment from the University of Oxford, where her research was supported by the Rhodes Scholarship.
