Fujitsu Malaysia Announces Primergy TX120 Server for Malaysia Market

Linux and Windows server with world’s smallest footprint, low-noise and energy-efficient operation.

Kuala Lumpur, April 18, 2007

Primergy TX120

Leading IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Malaysia today introduced the Primergy TX120 server for Malaysia market.

Designed for Linux and Windows Server 2003 platforms and powered by Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processors 3070 (2.66GHz) or 3040 (1.86GHz), the TX120 has the world’s smallest footprint and sets excellent standards in low-noise and energy-efficient operation for commercially available servers.

Targeted at the retail and SOHO (small office / home office) markets, the TX120’s 395 cm2 footprint – about the same as a slim tower desktop PC – is 33 per cent smaller than that of its predecessor, the Primergy TX150 S5. In addition, the physical size of the TX120 is 25 per cent smaller than that of the TX150 S5.

The compact design, achieved with 2.5-inch hard disk drives (HDDs) and downsized heat pipes, makes the TX120 ideal for premises that lack spacious work areas or server rooms. Examples of possible deployments include in-store, back-office and SOHO application servers for:

  • shops
  • clinics
  • small branches of accounting or consulting firms

The TX120 has been engineered such that heat-generating components – such as the central processing unit (CPU) – are aligned with the air flow through the server chassis. Cooling fans at the front and back ends of the CPU further reduce operating temperatures to maintain system stability even for round-the-clock operation. Furthermore, the fans’ rotational frequency is automatically adjusted according to the temperature within the chassis. These design elements combine for the TX120 to run at noise levels below 32 decibels, or softer than a whispering voice.

Utilising low-power Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processors and 2.5-inch Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface (SAS) HDDs, the TX120 consumes no more than 175W of power at its highest configuration, making it an energy-efficient commercially available server.

The need to install servers in office workspaces, instead of server rooms, continues to increase especially in the retail and SOHO markets. Such servers must therefore be space-saving so that the working environment remains comfortable. Reduced noise levels from improved fan management, robustness for 24x7 operations and low power consumption are also vital concerns. The Fujitsu Primergy TX120 is an ultra-compact server specially designed to meet all of these requirements,” said Mr. Anandan Balakrishnan, Deputy Director of Enterprise Systems Technology, Fujitsu (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

Other product features include:

  • on-board support for reliable independent disk array configuration
  • remote service function for easy Web-based server management
  • reliability, availability and serviceability functions for system stability and round-the-clock operation
  • anti-theft security measures

The Primergy TX120 will be available for Malaysia market with immediate effect. Visit http://my.fujitsu.com or call 03-8318 3700 for more details.
