FUJITSU MALAYSIA Launches fi-5650C Performance Oriented Document Scanner

Kuala Lumpur, October 05, 2004

Fujitsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a member of the global group of Fujitsu companies, today unveiled the new fi-5650C low-volume production colour scanner for corporate customers.

The fi-5650C is Fujitsu’s first-ever Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) scanner in this product segment, with a 200-sheet ADF capacity. It captures both sides of a document in a single pass using dual charged coupled device (CCD) arrays. In A4 Portrait mode, it scans colour or monochrome pages at a resolution of 300 dots per inch (dpi), at a speed of 55 pages per minute (ppm) and 110 images per minute (ipm) for single- and double-sided documents respectively. The device comes with universal serial bus (USB) 2.0 – backward compatible with USB 1.1 – as well as Ultra Small Computer System Interface (Ultra SCSI) connections, providing a speedy link to a PC. Its daily scanning cycle is up to 8000 pages per day.

Joining a family of award-winning Fujitsu scanners, the fi-5650C comes with the latest ultra-sonic double feed detection and a reputable straight paper path, to eliminate paper jam and optimise paper-handling performance. With its new enhanced feeding rollers, the fi-5650C scans documents of different sizes without the prior need for manual pre-sorting. Users can also fit the scanner with an optional fi-565PR imprinter module that allows document names or other kinds of information to be printed on scanned documents, for simpler document management. Dual control panels incorporated on either side of its compact footprint cater to left- and right-handed users.

“The fi-5650C bears testimony to Fujitsu’s continuous drive to develop innovative products that meet users’ needs and priced within their reach. The price-to-performance ratio of this newly launched fi-5650C will be very attractive. The design of the fi-5650C takes into consideration the space constraints that corporate users could face, and the ability to scan colour and monochrome documents at the same speed will help users move towards colour applications,” said Mr Chiharu Abe, Senior General Manager, Fujitsu Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
