Fujitsu, the leading provider of ICT-based business solutions, today launched Fujitsu Day 2012 to offer an avenue for participants to explore new technologies and solutions that pave the way for greater innovation and ensure a better future for business, governments and the society at large.
With the theme "Leveraging the "I" in IT", Fujitsu and its partners want to help businesses in Indonesia better leverage information to drive innovation while optimizing IT infrastructure. Therefore, businesses need to set their IT investment goal into initiatives that can transform data into actionable business information, thus focusing more on the "I" aspect of "IT."
One of the challenges businesses are facing is the explosion of data, driven by proliferation of mobile devices, the wide use of social media and advances in censor technology, such as RFID.
Fujitsu elaborated the IT challenges and new opportunities at the Fujitsu Day 2012 conference and exhibition today at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. This theme confirmed the importance to focus on leveraging all the "I"s in "IT," the Information, Infrastructure, Integration and Innovation.
"Where IT is concerned, the focus has tended to be on the "T" of technology. However, new business realities see Fujitsu helping customers leverage not just “Information” but the other 3"I"s namely "Innovation", "Infrastructure" and "Integration" to achieve maximum value," said Achmad Sofwan, President Director, Fujitsu Indonesia. "The theme "Leveraging the 'I' in IT" addresses today’s business challenges where the irresistible forces of mobile, social media, smart objects, cloud and an explosion of data are shaping IT strategies to create value for businesses."
Information and innovation are the currencies for building competitive advantage and driving business objectives. However, today’s business operations involve contributions from a myriad of different systems, people and processes. Fujitsu has established a strong reputation for enabling customers to manage these integrations successfully with partners.
"With Fujitsu, customers will be able to better leverage investments they have made in building their IT infrastructure. They will be able to take advantage of a well-integrated platform – Fujitsu Dynamic Infrastructure, with best of breed solutions from our partners and launch innovative services to their customers." Achmad added.
Another aspect of the 'I' – Innovation, has been a constant for Fujitsu for over 77 years. The relentless pursuit of innovation is based on Fujitsu’s belief in the infinite possibilities of technological development. In recent years, Fujitsu has innovated to realize the Human Centric Intelligent Society vision that we have. This is the creation of a networked society that is rewarding and secure, bringing about a prosperous future that fulfils the dreams of people throughout the world.
"We see cloud as the enabler to make the most of the "I" components, Information, Infrastructure, Integration and Innovation. Fujitsu have the ability to take any workload into the right Cloud and provide a unified Cloud experience to the user and a single integrated management platform for IT," said Achmad.
The Changing Role for CIO
To be able to focus on Information, Infrastructure, Integration and Innovation amid the challenges and opportunities, CIOs will see their role change. "CIOs today are conflicted in deciding what strategies to pursue and when to pursue them. Too many technologies and trends have emerged very rapidly, including Cloud, Big Data, Mobility, Bring Your own device, Sustainability, Social media – to name a few. This avalanche of disruptive technologies is creating stress and the development of inconsistent strategies," said Craig Baty, Chief Technology & Innovation Officer, Fujitsu Australia & New Zealand. “To cope with these challenges the CIO role needs to change from that of a technology operator/enforcer who mainly develops, operates and monitors the technology to that of a business enabler who will orchestrate and facilitate the realization of business goals via technology."
Today’s CIOs must transform their understanding of their job by seeing something in a new way, understanding from different perspective and coming up with new ideas. Moreover, CIOs needs to deal with issues about boundaries in relation to people, process and technology.
Making the shift to the cloud
Cloud is the enabler for taking benefits from Information, Infrastructure, Integration and Innovation. Organizations need to start taking the step towards this fundamental and far-reaching change in the way IT is sourced, delivered and managed. The benefits of cloud are real. Cloud is saving time and removing complexity, reduce cost and matching that cost to business demand while allowing IT to provide the agility and responsiveness business is demanding, and at the same time creates an environment that enables Innovation.
"Making the shift to the cloud starts with identifying external and internal triggers, followed by understanding business services or processes and how they need to be delivered and consumed to meet the opportunities and challenges in the future, then determine the right cloud capability whether is SaaS, PaaS or IaaS," said Richard Wern, Senior Director, Regional Cloud Computing, Fujitsu Asia. "Fujitsu's vision is to be able to take any workload into the right cloud, to provide a unified cloud experience for users and a single, integrated management platform for IT. We have a strong cloud portfolio from professional services, complete technology stack, service management tools and expertise to match cloud to the needs of business."
