Fujitsu Announces Management Scholarship for Indonesian Citizens

Jakarta, Agustus 06, 2012

Fujitsu, the leading provider of ICT-based business solutions, today announced the Fujitsu Scholarship which will give opportunity to business professionals to participate in Fujitsu-JAIMS Foundation's 2013 Spring Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge educational program

The three-and-a-half-month Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge educational program serves as an extension program focusing on management studies for experienced business professionals. The program consists of short course on knowledge management and innovation presented by Dr. Ikujiro Nonaka, who is listed as one of the "Top 20 Influential Business Thinkers". The program cultivates innovative leaders with practical wisdom through the acquisition of a broad spectrum of knowledge, including management theory, liberal arts, and methodology. Not only do the participants have opportunities to observe the success stories in management in scheduled site visits, but they can also learn through synthesizing and then implementing projects.

The Fujitsu Scholarship is open to Indonesian citizens with a bachelor's degree, requires minimum 3-year working experience as a full-time employee, and TOEIC score of at least 750. Enrolment is open until October 22, 2012.

"Representing Fujitsu's social commitment, the Fujitsu Scholarship program is dedicated to facilitate all communities in Asia Pacific region to make a real contribution to their respective countries, through the learning of values and cultural diversity in the context of global business," said Achmad S. Sofwan, President Director Fujitsu Indonesia. "In Indonesia, we have introduced Fujitsu Scholarship program since 1986 and a total of 53 Indonesians were awarded with the Fujitsu Scholarship by the 2012 spring term. For the 2012 Fall Term, Fujitsu sent two students from Indonesia. The Fujitsu Scholarship is a unique and valuable opportunity to develop leadership of Indonesian business practitioners."

"My decision to join in this JAIMS program in fact has opened my eyes, not only to the cultural diversity but also to an international networking perspective whose surface I could barely even reach, let alone dig into. Fujitsu scholarship was my steering wheel to change my life direction to reach the brighter future; it has also shaped me better and helped me to understand that I still have opportunity to enhance my capability to become a better leader and walk three steps ahead of anyone else," said Kanya P. Cittasthira, Savings Product Manager, PT Bank QNB Kesawan Tbk.

"JAIMS program was an important moment in my professional career. It was a very moving but also rewarding experience to learn and practice mixed business skills in the multicultural environment. In a short period of time, a new set of leadership paradigms enabled me to be a better decision maker in my personal and professional journey," said Denny Dharmawan, Senior Manager, PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk.

"Hawaii, Japan, comprehensive curriculum, great tutors, and culturally diverse students, are factors that make this program unique and interesting! This is a fit program for any professionals who want to enhance their leadership skills, gain global networking experience, and accelerate their career path," said Zikril Hakim, Senior Manager, Corporate Planning, PT Bakrieland Development Tbk.

Fujitsu established this scholarship program in 1985 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the company’s founding. The scholarship aims to provide the opportunity for people from the Asia-Pacific region, including Indonesia, to contribute to their home countries by studying management at JAIMS. The Fujitsu Scholarship has since been offered to 440 professionals from 18 countries across the Asia-Pacific region. JAIMS was originally founded by Fujitsu in 1972 in the Honolulu suburb of Hawaii Kai. In light of recent development of business activities in Asia, Fujitsu has established Fujitsu-JAIMS Foundation in July 2012, and headquarter function will be moved to Fujitsu-JAIMS Foundation in April 2013 for the delivery of the new program.

Below are the features of the new program :

Knowledge Leadership Training

Based on Dr. Nonaka's theory of "Knowledge-Creation Management," the program will train the students about the knowledge-creation process and proper leadership techniques from both theoretical and applied perspectives.

Multi-campus Network

In addition to locations in Singapore and Thailand as footholds for the implementation of educational programs, the program encompasses a multi-campus network: Japan, the United States (Hawaii), Singapore, and Thailand. In a short-term program with a condensed curriculum of both theoretical and applied learning, the wide-ranging knowledge as well as self-confidence required by leaders who will promote global business will be cultivated.

Constructing a human network together with Asia

By studying together with excellent participants from many countries centering primarily on East and Southeast Asia, and by interacting with lecturers from visiting counties, students develop more global viewpoints and cultural sensitivity, while also learning how to achieve synthesis amid diversity. Furthermore, students will construct human networks which will carry on long past graduation.

To apply for the Fujitsu Scholarship, participants must meet the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline
