Fujitsu Appointed as West Kowloon Cultural District Authority’s IaaS Cloud Services Provider

Hong Kong , June 09, 2015

Fujitsu will provide the WKCDA with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Cloud solutions, including network and server resource management and common support services, to help optimize the ongoing ICT development of the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD).

The WKCDA oversees one of the largest cultural developments worldwide, the WKCD, where it blends art, education and public space into a vibrant cultural district. Fujitsu’s application hosting Cloud solutions will support business critical systems, empowering the WKCDA to further enhance its operations through reliable and seamless ICT solutions.

Derek Yiu, General Manager, Solutions and Services Business, Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, explained, “Fujitsu is honored to have been selected by the WKCDA as their ICT service provider to support the technological development of Hong Kong’s iconic West Kowloon Cultural District. Appointed in December 2014 for a minimum 40-month contract, Fujitsu was selected for its ability to provide a wide range of professional ICT services encompassing IT application hosting, the provision of computing resources, data center managed support services, and implementation of disaster recovery platform. As a core part of the assignment, Fujitsu will deliver cloud computing infrastructure including virtual resources like network, servers and storage systems enabling a flexible hosting environment that supports the District’s rapidly growing operations.

The hosting platform will be based upon server virtualization, and on-demand computing technology delivered in a secure, high-availability data center environment. Emily Chan, Chief Technology Officer, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, said, “As one of the world’s largest and most ambitious arts and cultural projects, the Authority needs strong support for its ever-expanding demand for state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure and services. We selected Fujitsu as our ICT service provider for their expertise and experience in providing an extensive range of robust ICT services and solutions. It is our aspiration for the WKCD to be fully supported with highly reliable ICT systems and services from Fujitsu.”

“Around the world, Fujitsu is well-positioned to localize its global best practices of ICT Managed Services for the WKCD. The Fujitsu team is excited to be able to participate in the WKCD project, and contribute to advocating a better quality of life for the Hong Kong community,” said Yiu.
