Fujitsu Appointed as West Kowloon Cultural District Authority’s IaaS Cloud Services Provider

Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited announced today that it has been appointed by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) as its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Managed Services provider for application hosting services. Fujitsu will provide the WKCDA with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Cloud solutions, including network and server resource management and common support services, to help optimize the ongoing ICT development of the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD).

The WKCDA oversees one of the largest cultural developments worldwide, the WKCD, where it blends art, education and public space into a vibrant cultural district. Fujitsu’s application hosting Cloud solutions will support business critical systems, empowering the WKCDA to further enhance its operations through reliable and seamless ICT solutions.

Appointed in December 2014 for a minimum 40-month contract, Fujitsu was selected for its ability to provide a wide range of professional ICT services encompassing IT application hosting, the provision of computing resources, data center managed support services, and implementation of disaster recovery platform. As a core part of the assignment, Fujitsu will deliver cloud computing infrastructure including virtual resources like network, servers and storage systems enabling a flexible hosting environment that supports the District’s rapidly growing operations.

The hosting platform will be based upon server virtualization, and on-demand computing technology delivered in a secure, high-availability data center environment. The WKCD will be equipped with the support of a cost-efficient, resilient and scalable environment designed by Fujitsu to accommodate the increasing demand on the WKCDA’s IT systems.
