Fujitsu Expands Contributions to Customers and Society through New Environmental Action Plan

Establishes Fujitsu Group Environmental Action Plan (Stage VIII)

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, April 20, 2016

Fujitsu today announced the formulation of its Fujitsu Group Environmental Action Plan (Stage VIII), setting its environmental goals for fiscal years 2016-2018.

In this plan, Fujitsu aims to further expand its contributions to customers and society, setting 11 goals in the two categories of "Our Society" and "Our Business." For example, in the "Our Society" category, Fujitsu is working to expand the development and provision of solutions that contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)(1), a set of goals for sustainable development adopted by the United Nations in 2015. In addition, under "Our Business," as part of a long-term effort to achieve zero emissions, Fujitsu is aiming to lower its environmental impact, such as its efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions at all of its business facilities by over 5% compared to fiscal 2013.

Through these initiatives, the Fujitsu Group seeks to bring about a sustainable and prosperous society, leveraging the power of ICT to help resolve social and environmental issues.

Background

To deal with complex, interconnected issues facing society and the environment, the UN's SDGs and the Paris Agreement adopted at COP21(2) are representative of agreed upon common global goals. Given this, companies are expected to work even more actively to resolve issues so as to achieve these goals.

In accordance with the statement in its corporate values, as part of the Fujitsu Way, that "in all our actions, we protect the environment and contribute to society," Fujitsu views contributing to the sustainability of the planet as a vital social responsibility.

The Fujitsu Group has published Environmental Action Plans since 1993, and is continually working to reduce its impact on the environment. In order to play an even more important role in resolving social and environmental issues through the use of ICT, Fujitsu has set out its Fujitsu Group Environmental Action Plan (Stage VIII), and will now begin implementing it.
