[1] Disaggregated architecture
A method in which each network function is divided into separate modules, enabling upfront investment costs to be held down while a network environment is quickly built.
[2] Blade
A600 in the A line (access function) is the only product that is offered only in a shelf format. Future models are expected to all be blades. The 400Gbps OTN multiplexing technology of T200 blade uses part of the research results of VICTORIES, the Vertically Integrated Center for Technologies of Optical Routing toward Ideal Energy Savings, operated by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) as Project for Developing Innovation Systems of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan.
[3] Coherent digital signal processing (DSP) circuit
A DSP circuit used in digitally coherent optical transmissions. It converts analog signals into digital signals and performs all types of signal processing. The high-performance coherent DSP circuit used in the T200 and T300 uses part of the research results of "The research and development project for the ultra-high speed and green photonic networks" and "Tera-bit optical network technologies towards big data era" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan.
[4] 1RU
One Rack Unit. Also written as 1U, it is the height of one partition (4.445 cm) of a 19-inch or 23-inch rack.
[5] API
Application Program Interface. A set of rules that define procedures and data formats that allow other programs to call functions and data managed by a given computer program.
[6] OSS
Operation Support System. Systems needed for telecommunications carriers to build and operate services.
[7] BSS
Business Support System. Systems that support information-management operations at telecommunications carriers, including metering and billing.
[8] Adaptive modulation technology
Technology that makes it possible to select from among multiple modulation methods.
[9] CD
Colorless Directionless. Wavelength and directional distribution that is not constrained in terms of wavelength or direction.
[10] ROADM
Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer. A device that assigns each signal wavelength to an appropriate path and sends/receives on that path.
[11] Ethernet VPN
A virtual private network over Ethernet.
[12] 10G EPON
A protocol and technology standardized by IEEE that can send at up to a maximum 10 Gbps up and down over a single-core optical cable, shared among up to 64 ONUs.
[13] NGPON2
A protocol and technology standardized by ITU-T for optical access at more than 40 Gbps, using wave-division multiplexing (WDM) technology to multiplex a 10-Gbps signal into four or more wavelengths. Similar to PON, includes two protocols: TWDM, shared by multiple ONUs, and Point to Point, which is not shared.
