Fujitsu Introduces Twelve Windows-10-equipped Enterprise Tablets, PCs, and Workstations

Lineup enhanced with Fujitsu's first tablet specialized for education, reflecting Fujitsu's experience with deployments to schools

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, October 06, 2015

Fujitsu today announced the introduction of 12 new enterprise computer models installed with the latest OS, Windows 10, including three Windows tablets, two notebook PCs, four desktop PCs, two workstations, and one long-life PC. Sales of the new models begin in Japan in October 2015.

The FUJITSU Tablet ARROWS Tab series has been expanded with the ARROWS Tab Q506/ME, exactingly designed for ease of use in the classroom.

Fujitsu has for many years promoted the use of ICT in education. As an industry-driving vendor, the company has delivered devices to numerous schools in response to the Japanese government's goal of putting a computer in the hands of every student during the 2010s, as stated in Japan's Declaration to be the World's Most Advanced IT Nation. The company has incorporated various user feedback to develop this model, which can be used reliably in any learning environment.

To make the model a good fit with the learning environment, special attention has been given to configuration and ruggedness. Ease of use for learning was the paramount consideration, and given this, the tablet includes features such as a stylus for intuitive written input and a camera that takes sharp photos without blur. A diagnostic tool app for confirming the location of malfunctions is also offered, to help support smooth classroom operation.

Key Features of the New Products

1. ARROWS Tab Q506/ME: loaded with features that can be used reliably for learning. Fujitsu's first 10.1" tablet for education

  1. Offers a configuration and ruggedness fit for the educational environment

Compared to the previous 10.1" wide-format tablet, this model has the same screen size, but in a compact "School Ratio," achieved by vertically shortening the tablet body and keyboard. This means it takes up less space on a desk, and can sit comfortably alongside a student's other desk items with less risk of being knocked over - and in the event that it does fall, it is built to withstand impacts, with a tough, damage-resistant design and construction called "School Face." An optional carrying case is also offered, and it accommodates both a shoulder-strap compatible cover, to avoid dropping the tablet while standing, and the slim keyboard. Using the shoulder-strap compatible cover makes drops less likely when using the tablet standing up, as when taking photos. The tablet itself is water resistant (IPX5/7/8) and dust resistant (IP5X)(1), making it safe for use outdoors and in home economics.

  2. Pen and camera designed for education

Pen-input and camera features used during tablet-based learning have both been updated to meet the needs of real-world learning. Needing to learn unfamiliar pen-input techniques tends to break a student's focus, so Fujitsu emphasized recreating the familiar feel of a pen on paper so as not to hinder the learning process. The sensation of writing on paper is reinforced by pen input with accurate tracking capabilities, which ensure there is no slippage when the stylus first touches the screen. Also, an optional pencil-like stylus with a fit and grip similar to a pencil is available for the first time.

The tablet is equipped with a camera specifically designed for capturing the photo-worthy scenes at school: even in scenes with low light, such as gymnasiums, the camera can capture sharp, blur-free photos of moving students. Also, it captures the image the instant the shutter button is pressed, so there are no missed shots(2).

  3. Diagnostic tool app, so learning doesn't stop

Fujitsu provides a diagnostic tool app, so if something does happen to a tablet once in use, the problem can be identified. The app makes it easy to solve problems on the spot, and lightens support workloads for administrators and users, for an uninterrupted educational experience.

2. Twelve new Windows-10-installed enterprise computers

  1. Latest models in every PC product category

Fujitsu is newly introducing three models in one series of Windows-10-equipped Windows tablet, the ARROWS Tab Q506/ME, ARROWS Tab Q506/MB, and ARROWS Tab Q665/M, and two models in one series of notebook PC, the LIFEBOOK A744/M and LIFEBOOK A574/M. Additionally, Fujitsu is introducing four models in two series of desktop PCs, the ESPRIMO Q556/M, ESPRIMO D956/M, ESPRIMO D586/M, and ESPRIMO D556/M, all featuring the latest, sixth generation of the Intel Core processor family; and two models in two series of workstations, the CELSIUS W550 and CELSIUS J550. The long-life PC ESPRIMO N529/FA, with maximum 10-year maintainability, is also newly available. A new model is thus offered for each PC product category.

Thanks to its outstanding ruggedness, water resistance, and dust resistance, the 10.1" tablet Q506/MB(3) can stand up to sudden rainstorms or dusty workplaces. The CELSIUS W550 can be equipped with the latest graphics card NVIDIA Quadro M4000 to accelerate even processor-intensive tasks.

  2. Extensive security features to meet the demands of business

The ARROWS Tab Q665/M and two notebook PC models can be equipped with fingerprint authentication, and the LIFEBOOK A744/M can be equipped with a palm-vein authentication sensor. The new desktop PCs and workstations likewise can be used with either an external palm-vein authentication sensor or a keyboard that has one built in to identify their users, to reduce the risk of information leaks.

Additionally, when equipped with wireless LAN, the three new tablets support CLEARSURE 3G/LTE(4), a remote data-deletion solution, for greater security and peace of mind in mobile environments. Devices can be locked or wiped even when turned off, so that data breaches can be quickly and proactively avoided if a device is lost or stolen.

Fujitsu aims to provide a safe, confidence-inspiring work environment through its robust security features, to ensure that businesses, in any industry, have the support they deserve.
