Fujitsu Releases New Enterprise Tablet and 1U Rack-Mounted Workstation

Equipped with latest processors, enhance the lineup and enable use in variety of situations

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, May 18, 2015

Fujitsu today announced the release of a new model in its FUJITSU Tablet ARROWS Tab series of enterprise tablets running Windows, along with a new model in its FUJITSU Workstation CELSIUS series of enterprise PC workstations. These models will be released in Japan starting June 2015.

For the tablet, Fujitsu is newly offering ARROWS Tab Q665/L, an 11.6" high-spec water-resistant tablet equipped with the latest Intel Core M processor, which delivers both high performance and a high degree of mobility. The water-resistant, dust-resistant, and anti-chemical functions of the tablet, along with its abundant accessories, enable it to be used in a variety of different scenarios to match customers' work needs.

Fujitsu is also newly offering CELSIUS C740, a 1U rack-mounted workstation equipped with the latest Intel Xeon processor. Operating efficiency is achieved through physically integrating the workstation environments dispersed among different locations.

Key Product Features

1. Tablet equipped with Intel Core M processor for work in the office or on the go

ARROWS Tab Q665/L is a tablet equipped with the latest Windows 8.1 Pro operating system and a high-resolution 11.6" full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels). It uses the Intel Core M processor, a new platform that does not require the use of a cooling fan. As a result, despite the tablet's high performance, it has a long battery life that can last up to 10.1 hours maximum(1), while its body is smaller than A4 (297 x 210mm) sized paper and only weighs approximately 795 grams(2). As the tablet lacks a fan and is equipped with a silent flash memory disk, it is exceedingly quiet, making it well suited for quiet conference rooms and classrooms.

The tablet is water resistant (IPX5/7/8) and dust resistant (IP5X)(3), so it is safe to use outside even if it suddenly rains. Its chemical resistance(4) enables it to withstand being wiped down with alcohol after use to keep it clean, enabling its use in settings where hygiene is a priority.

For security, a fingerprint sensor is a standard feature, with options to add a customized security chip, NFC(5), and a smart card slot, while the wireless WAN model supports CLEARSURE 3G/LTE(6), a remote data erasure solution, ensuring safe, secure mobile operation.

In addition, there are a variety of accessories to allow the tablet to adapt to each customer's workstyle, including a slim keyboard and expandable cradle, a car battery adapter, a cover that comes with a strap and can work as a stand(7), and a shoulder strap that allows for operation while hanging the tablet from the user's neck. It can also be equipped with a digitizer panel, allowing for delicate text input with a stylus.

2. CELSIUS C740, a 1U rack-mounted model that improves operational efficiency through co-location of physical machines

The CELSIUS C740 is a rack-mounted workstation equipped with the latest Intel Xeon E5 processor family. The 1U size (based on EIA standards) is the smallest size rack-mounted type, and it can be consecutively mounted to server room racks without any gaps. It is also compatible with the latest graphics cards, NVIDIA Quadro K5200/K4200/K2200/K620/K420, and can therefore process CAD and CAE(8), along with applications such as those that conduct analysis simulations at high speeds, providing a convenient work environment.

This product allows for the workstations of each respective user to be physically co-located in one location. By constructing a desktop environment that users connect to through a network from their client terminal and connecting to it to use C740, overall operational efficiency is improved, with higher security and lower maintenance costs.

In addition, the RemoteAccess card, which can be equipped as a customized option, can compress CELSIUS C740 image data as if it were hardware in order to transmit the data faster to client terminals. By connecting the RemoteAccess card to the highly compatible FUJITSU Thin Client FUTRO L420 zero client terminal, even when working from a remote location, users can feel as if their own dedicated PC workstation is nearby. It also supports the C740 remote management controller, and is equipped with features required for server room equipment, such as remote operating functions via a network and 24-hour continuous operations(9).

  • [1] Battery runtime

Measurements of runtime are based on the JEITA 2.0 testing standard.

  • [2] Approximately 795g

    Weight for standard configuration.

  • [3] Water resistance (IPX5/7/8) and dust resistance (IP5X)

Water resistance (IPX5/7/8): It maintains IPX5, IPX7 and IPX8 water resistance when the cap for the external connector terminals is firmly in place. The IPX5 designation indicates that the tablet can normally function after being sprayed with water from a nozzle with a diameter of 6.3 mm at a rate of 12.5 liters per minute from a distance of approximately 3 m for a period of at least 3 minutes. The IPX7 rating indicates that water will not penetrate inside the tablet and it will function normally after being immersed in a tank of room-temperature tap or still water at a depth of 1 m for approximately 30 minutes. The IPX8 designation indicates that the tablet functions normally after being immersed in room-temperature tap water to a depth of 1.5 m for 30 minutes.
Dust resistance (IP5X): With the external connector terminal cap tightly closed, the IP5X dust-resistance feature protects the tablet from dust damage. IP5X indicates that the tablet has been placed in an apparatus with agitated dust particles with a diameter of 75 µm or less for 8 hours and continued to function and be used safely. This, however, does not apply to smart cards or when the device is equipped with NFC; nor does it apply to keyboards or other accessories.

  • [4] Chemical resistance

Resists ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, sodium hypochlorite, and can be cleaned after use by wiping with alcohol to sanitize. This, however, does not apply to smart cards or while equipped with NFC; nor does it apply to keyboards or other accessories.

  • [5] NFC

Near Field Communication, a standard for non-contact communications.

  • [6] CLEARSURE 3G/LTE

Use of CLEARSURE 3G/LTE requires subscription to MobileSUITE Terminal-Management Service and MobileSUITE Terminal-Management CLEARSURE 3G/LTE Service, as well as phone service that supports SMS.

  • [7] Cover that comes with a strap and acts as a stand

A cover that allows for easy operation of the Q665/L by allowing it to stand up at various angles, and includes a hand strap on the back. Also supports the shoulder strap, sold separately.

  • [8] CAE

Computer Aided Engineering. A computer system that assists in the design and manufacturing process of industrial products.

  • [9] 24-hour continuous operations

Products that have a life expectancy can be replaced for a fee.
