Fujitsu Launches IT Management Outsourcing Services Firm
Receives contract from Kawaijuku Educational Institution, service to begin next year
Fujitsu Limited
Tokyo, November 01, 2012
Fujitsu has announced the formation today of IT Management Partners Limited, a company to provide IT management(1) support to the information-systems departments in a range of companies.
IT Management Partners will bring to bear the system-integration technology and know-how of Fujitsu, and work together as a team with the customer IT engineers, aiming to overcome issues and support customers' efforts to improve their information-systems.
By working with IT Management Partners, customers can expect to enhance their upstream IT services, rapidly hone the skills of IT staff, and improve IT management operations. Moreover, the Fujitsu Group is now developing services for the new company that will focus on cultivating expert IT staff well versed in customer business operations.
In addition, Fujitsu has signed an agreement with Kawaijuku Educational Institution to use IT Management Partners. The two companies will be studying the actual scope of operations for the outsourcing services to be provided and plan to begin using the new company to provide IT management services beginning April 1, 2013.
Reason for Establishing IT Management Partners
In the past, the outsourcing of a company's information-systems department focused mostly on the delivery side of the business, including application development and system operations. As IT has come to play an increasingly important role of business operations, however, there has come to be a greater need for enhanced management functions relating to system development and operations. While Fujitsu has previously formed joint ventures with individual customers to handle outsourcing contracts at the management level, what has become apparent is an emerging need among customers to avoid significant investments while getting access to straightforward management-level outsourcing. IT Management Partners was formed primarily to provide customer firms in the medium-sized business market with IT management outsourcing services.

Fujitsu and Kawaijuku Educational Institution
Kawaijuku is an educational institution primarily involved in the education business and educational R&D, with schools and classrooms nationwide. Fujitsu and Kawaijuku have had a longstanding relationship centered on the provision of ICT systems. In January of this year, Kawaijuku began use of Fujitsu's FGCP/S5 public-cloud service as the platform for its College Admittance Probability Assessment, which evaluates students' college-admission potential.
As Kawaijuku needed enhanced upstream IT services and strengthened system development/operations-management services, the establishment of IT Management Partners represented a good fit for the Fujitsu Group's goal of developing IT staff well versed in customer business operations. Given this, Kawaijuku recently signed an agreement to become IT Management Partners' first customer.
