Fujitsu "TeamPoS 7000" Global POS System Begins Operations at Tsuruha's Overseas Store

Fujitsu today announced that it has worked together with the major Japanese drug store chain, Tsuruha Holdings, Inc., to develop a retail system for its first store outside Japan, which opened this July in Thailand.

Fujitsu is providing comprehensive support for the new system, ranging from the delivery of hardware including the new "TeamPoS 7000" global POS system, servers, and PCs, to system integration development, maintenance, and support. Going forward, Fujitsu will continue to support Tsuruha Holdings in actively expanding its business outside Japan.

Background

Tsuruha Store in Gateway Ekamai

Tsuruha Holdings is currently strengthening the expansion of its business outside Japan, prompting the need for flexible support for additional retail locations. As such, the company was looking for a POS system with global support capabilities in anticipation of the opening of its store in Gateway Ekamai, its first retail location in Thailand.

System Overview

Fujitsu Systems Business (Thailand) Ltd., which boasts a rich track record in systems deployment is providing comprehensive support for the introduction of the new system, ranging from systems integration development of the POS systems, to deployment, maintenance and support.

The new system comes equipped with a host of features that accommodate the business practices of Thailand, including sales promotion methods, storage of receipts in an electronic journal, and settings for days when the sale of alcoholic products is restricted for religious reasons. Moreover, thanks to the close incorporation of the systems at both Tsuruha stores and Thai headquarters (Tsuruha (Thailand) Co., Ltd.), the company is able to gain real-time access to vital information. The system also provides an abundance of reports to support operations, thereby enabling prompt and efficient management of Tsuruha Holdings' stores outside Japan. Furthermore, the system delivers comprehensive customer management capabilities through a loyalty system, as well as data/log management and security measures such as access privilege settings. As a result, the system delivers the highest standards of data management.

The system employs the new "TeamPoS 7000" global POS system, which is developed and manufactured by Fujitsu Frontech Limited.

Fujitsu Frontech's new "TeamPoS 7000" global POS series is the latest product from Fujitsu that offers superior durability as well as interoperability with a wide range of optional peripheral devices based on the customer's retail environment. In addition to providing support through its broad performance range for diverse customer needs, from check-out to back office operations, the series also leverages leading-edge technologies, such as built-in camera and proximity sensor that automatically switch the POS terminals to power-saving mode when the user steps away. As a result, the series has received wide acclaim around the world.

The product deployed by Tsuruha Holdings, "TeamPoS 7000 A," is Fujitsu's latest sleek and stylish all-in-one POS terminal. Featuring a 15"x12" dual display, it can be used to offer customers fine-tuned services.

Going forward, Tsuruha Holdings plans to actively expand its business outside Japan, with a target of opening ten locations in Thailand within the next two years. Fujitsu aims to continue providing comprehensive support for the company's retail management, including the development of mission-critical systems other than those for retail, such as accounting systems.
