Fujitsu Releases SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder V10L04 with IFRS Support

Helps improve work efficiency of consolidated closing, supports voluntary IFRS adoption

Fujitsu today announced that SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder V10L04 (IFRS Adoption, 2nd Edition)(1), a consolidated accounting solution developed by Fujitsu Systems East, will be released on April 27.

The SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder series, which boasts a track record of deployment in over 600 companies since its introduction in 1997, is a consolidated accounting solution that has been enhanced to accommodate legal systems and the expanded features that accompany them. The latest version of the solution enables support for multiple accounting standards, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), in addition to consolidated accounting based on current Japanese standards. In this way, the solution supports customers in preparing consolidated financial statement with greater efficiency.

Bringing together Fujitsu's abundant experience in supporting customers' accounting operations, the SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder V10L04 (IFRS Adoption, 2nd Edition) consolidated accounting solution meets the needs of customers looking to efficient preparation of consolidated financial statement or considering voluntary IFRS adoption.

The SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder series has been in use by Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd, the first company in Japan to adopt IFRS, since March 2010. The solution is also employed as a consolidated accounting system within Fujitsu, which as of April 2011, had approximately 600 consolidated subsidiaries.

Main Feature Enhancements in SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder V10L04 (IFRS Adoption, 2nd Edition)

The new solution includes the following main feature enhancements.

1. More efficient collection of data for consolidated closing

SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder has several method to collect data for consolidated closing from subsidiaries as follows; data link with GLOVIA accounting products from Fujitsu—including "GLOVIA smart Accounting" and "GLOVIA SUMMIT GM," data upload through a web screen or as Excel files, in addition to those conventional ones, direct input via Excel files, which most users are familiar with using in their daily work.

2. Advanced analysis management

With an Excel add-in function (Pathfinder function)(2), users can output consolidated figures and textual information to cells in the format of their choice, thereby making it easy to produce ledgers for various kinds of financial statements in Excel. The feature also enables users to quickly output the latest data sets in order to perform timely analyses and checks.

In addition, when preparing web-based reports (OLAP reports), SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder enables data comparison among multiple accounting standards and improved drill-down operations on multiple windows. Moreover, an enhanced function to switch time series display — monthly, quarterly, semiannually, yearly, and multi-yearly—enables advanced analyses.

3. Enhanced function for notes

Easily gathers notes like an accounting closing policy, which in recent years has become increasingly important in closing disclosure.

After importing a notes collection format from Excel, note information is collected using the specified format. In addition, downloaded data can be used as an Excel sheet by an Excel add-in function (Pathfinder function).

4. Support for multiple standards

When companies voluntarily adopt IFRS, they usually need to report also by Japanese accounting standards initially. This solution handles data by both Japanese accounting standards and IFRS, and enables you easily to switch to the other. In addition, newly enhanced features listed in enhancements #1-3 above can be utilized not only for Japanese accounting standards but also for IFRS to accomodate the needs of customers who voluntarily adopt IFRS.

Details of the new solution will be presented at Fujitsu Forum 2012, to be held on Thursday, May 17 and Friday, May 18 at the Tokyo International Forum in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

Service structure for Fujitsu's SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder consolidated accounting solution

To support customers' consolidated accounting operations, Fujitsu delivers a comprehensive service for consolidated accounting through the system design phase to the construction and operations/maintenance phases.

1. Planning and requirement definition phase

Fujitsu offers a consulting service for speeding up companies' financial results announcements and IFRS adoption support, as well as system planning and definition of requirements for building a consolidated system.

2. System construction phase

Fujitsu constructs a consolidated accounting system based on SUPER COMPACT Pathfinder.

3. Operations and maintenance phase

Fujitsu provides on-site operational support for consolidated closing period, as well as year-round inquiry support.
