Digital coherent
This technology uses DP-QPSK optical modulation to compensate for waveform distortion that occurs in the optical transmission path with digital signal processing in the optical receiver.
DP-QPSK (Dual Polarization-Quadrature Phase Shift Keying)
A digital modulation scheme that conveys data by changing, or modulating, the phase of a reference signal (the carrier wave). For each of the "P" and "S", 2-bit data can be divided into four modulated phases (0º, 90º, 180º, and 270º).
 OUPSR (Optical Unidirectional Path-Switched Ring)
A protection feature that selects one of two differing optical paths connecting two opposing equipment nodes.
 CDC (Colorless/Directionless/Contentionless)
A feature that enables the use of any open port (colorless) and the ability to send wavelengths in a preferred direction.
