Fujitsu Limited,Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications Limited

Tokyo, July 06, 2011

Fujitsu today announced that the new E09F mobile phone from Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications will be available in Japan beginning July 11, 2011, through KDDI Corporation and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company.

With support for au's GLOBAL PASSPORT GSM/CDMA services that enable voice communications in 197 countries and regions(1)—covering almost every region in the world—the E09F is a mobile phone for corporate users equipped with remote locking and other security features essential for business, as well as IPX5(2)/IPX7(3)water resistance(4) that enables worry-free operations for business travelers who get caught in the rain.

Background

To respond to the special needs of users who employ their mobile phones as a business tool, including support for the global expansion of businesses and robust security features, Fujitsu has developed the E09F mobile phone for corporate users with the aim of making it the future standard for business mobile phones.

E09F supports au's GLOBAL PASSPORT GSM/CDMA services, which enable the mobile phone to be used outside Japan. In terms of areas with GSM coverage, the mobile phone supports voice communications in 197 countries and regions, and packet communications such as e-mail and EZweb can be used in 153 countries and regions(5). With regard to areas with CDMA coverage, the E09F supports voice communications in 20 countries and regions(6), and packet communications such as e-mail and EZweb can be used in 13 countries and regions(7).

To reduce the risk of information leaks when in use, the mobile phone includes a number of security features that are essential for business, including screen lock functionality. In addition, E09F is equipped with a feature that can remotely lock the mobile phone and delete address book, e-mail, and other data in the event that the mobile phone is lost. As a result, important business information can be safeguarded with certainty.

Moreover, as the E09F is IPX5/IPX7 water-resistant, business travelers do not need to be concerned when they are using the mobile phone and get caught in the rain.

Product Features

1. Supports business on a global scale

  • Can be used worldwide with GLOBAL PASSPORT GSM/CDMA
With au's GLOBAL PASSPORT international roaming service (8) that covers all areas with GSM and CDMA coverage, users can talk, check e-mails, and browse the Internet when abroad with the same phone number and mobile handset that they are accustomed to using in Japan. For business travelers who need to go abroad at a moment's notice, E09F actively supports users' business activities without requiring any additional procedures.

2. Security features

  • Memory wipe, remote lock/wipe
In the event that the mobile phone is lost inside or outside Japan, it is equipped with a lock that can be remotely activated from a PC, as well as a data-deletion function that wipes address book, e-mails, and other data stored on the mobile phone, thereby ensuring the protection of critical customer and business data.
  • Privacy filter
Pressing the "Privacy Filter" button for an extended time activates a special mode that prevents bystanders from reading the screen.

3. Water resistance

  • IPX5/IPX7
The mobile phone boasts IPX5/IPX7-rated performance that enables worry-free operations even during a sudden rainstorm. Meeting these standards ensures that users can make phone calls and check e-mails regardless of the weather.

4. Convenient features

  • Electronic dictionaries
E09F comes loaded with six dictionaries that are useful in Japan and abroad to help prevent typos when composing e-mail messages. Additional dictionaries can be downloaded (9) from the manufacturer's website.
  • Quick-access menu
Pressing the "quick" key activates the multi-play menu and frequently used menus. This makes it easy to launch and switch between multiple concurrently running features, enabling convenient operations. The frequently used menu interchanges with the fixed menu.

5. Display and one-segment television

The 3.0" wide-VGA screen displays clear, bright photos and video. In addition, users can enjoy a crisp picture when watching one-segment television broadcasts. By taking advantage of one-segment television content, users can keep up to date in real-time on the latest news and information when out of the office, another way the mobile phone supports users' business activities.
