Fujitsu introduces docomo SMART series™ F-11C

Fujitsu today announced that its new docomo SMART series F-11C mobile phone will be available from NTT DOCOMO, Inc. throughout Japan from June 30, 2011.

The F-11C is a slim, water-resistant mobile phone featuring a stylish, sophisticated design that interweaves metal-edge accents with a clear exterior shell for a glossy finish. The phone is also equipped with a high-performance camera, advanced security functionality, and useful business features, making it perfect for use in any setting, from personal daily life to the business world.

As smartphones and a wide variety of mobile phone styles emerge, Fujitsu has developed the F-11C as a standard clamshell phone for users who prefer a mobile phone that they are accustomed to using.

The F-11C—which boasts form features such as metal-edge accents that make a sharp impression, a polished clear exterior shell, and a sophisticated hairline texture—is equipped with a one-touch access button that complements the handset's upscale design. The phone's 5.1 megapixel camera is also enhanced by a number of support features that enable users to easily capture beautiful photographs, including a face recognition feature, a "Smile Finder," and automatic scene recognition.

The F-11C incorporates a comprehensive range of advanced security capabilities, such as a fingerprint sensor and an auto-lock feature that is automatically activated when the user does not operate the handset for a specified period of time.

In addition, the phone features a business card reader and whiteboard photography mode, which are convenient for use in business. As it is also IPX5/IPX8 water-resistant⁽¹⁾, the F-11 can be employed in a wide range of different settings.

The F-11C is available in three colors: NAVY, BLACK, and GOLD.

1. Easy-to-use slim water-resistant design

• With the phone's one-touch access button, the user can configure the handset to open and answer an incoming call with a simple push of the button.
• The F-11 is IPX5/IPX8 water-resistant, thereby expanding the range of possibilities in which it can be used.

2. Full-featured camera capabilities

• Face recognition and "Smile Finder"
  The camera recognizes pre-registered facial images of family members or friends and gives them priority as the main subjects for autofocus. In addition, when used in combination with the "Smile Finder" feature, this shutter is automatically tripped when the phone detects that the subjects are smiling.
• High-sensitivity equivalent to ISO 12800⁽²⁾
  The camera can produce bright photos even in dimly lit locations. It minimizes "image noise" so that users capture bright, blur-free photographs in dark locations that usually pose a challenge for cameras.
• My Collection
  The phone can organize photographs. Photographs stored on the phone itself or a microSD™ card/microSDHC™ card are automatically sorted by date or person. Users can create folders for specific topics, making the organizing process easier.

3. Full-featured security

• Fingerprint sensor⁽³⁾
  By recording the user's fingerprint in advance, the mobile phone indentifies its owner through fingerprint authentication, in lieu of having to type in a 4-8 digit password.
• Closed lock and inactivity lock⁽⁴⁾
  Closed lock: Just by closing the handset, the lock is activated, so users do not have to worry about unauthorized use in the event they have accidentally left their handset behind. With the lock activation time function, users can set the period of time after closing that the lock will be activated.
  Inactivity lock: Even if the phone is left out on a desk, it will automatically become locked. If users leave their phone on their desk and walk away, the phone will automatically lock after being idle for a certain period of time.
• Privacy mode⁽⁵⁾
  Designated information can be protected in privacy mode, which can hide information about designated individuals or groups (including phonebook entries, call logs, and e-mail) with a single action. When an email or a phone message arrives from an individual whose communications have been designated as secret, the user is notified instead through the phone's battery icon.

4. Business support functions

• Business card reader
  The built-in business card reader also recognizes text information from business cards captured by the camera, and automatically and easily inputs the data into the mobile address book. This feature is exceptionally convenient for business.
• Whiteboard photo function
  This function is convenient for taking notes, as it reduces the reflected glare of lighting and raises contrast to clearly capture what is written on a whiteboard.

5. Full-featured basic functions

• E-mail scheduling and automatic⁽⁶⁾ reply
  The-mail scheduling feature automatically sends e-mails at a pre-designated date and time. The automatic reply feature automatically replies if an incoming call or e-mail is received from a person specified in the mobile phone's e-mail settings.
• "Super HAKKIRI VOICE (extra-clear voice) 3" and "PITTARI Voice (exact voice)"
  In addition to "Super HAKKIRI VOICE (super-clear voice) 3," which adjusts the volume of the other caller's voice to make it easier to hear in a crowded environment, the mobile phone also employs "PITTARI VOICE (Exact voice)" to optimize its settings for specific environments, such as while riding of a train, walking or running. These functions make it easy to have a clear phone conversation in a variety of settings.
