Fujitsu Releases Gigabit Access Router Delivering 650 Mbps VPN Throughput

Si-R G200 delivers top-class performance among products in same price range

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, May 17, 2011

Fujitsu today announced the release of the Si-R G200, a gigabit access router that delivers 650 Mbps in VPN(1) throughput, in Japan. It is the latest model in Fujitsu's Si-R series of IP access routers for building corporate network systems.

The Si-R G200 delivers VPN throughput of 650 Mbps, placing it at the top of the range in performance among products in the same price range in the industry. As it can accommodate high-speed WAN(2) services in excess of 100 Mbps, such as FLET'S Hikari Next or au Hikari, it can even be used as a center router, not just as a router for medium-sized branch offices.

Moreover, as it can also accommodate LTE(3) and other high-speed wireless WAN services when a data communication card (sold separately) is used, the router can also be used to quickly set up virtual networks at temporary offices or event venues. It is also ideal for systems that need high-speed back-up lines to connect branch offices.

This product has been designated a "super green product"(4) by Fujitsu because of its environmentally-friendly features.

Background

As the volume of data traffic flowing through information and communications systems continues to expand, more companies want to build corporate networks that take full advantage of the high-speed, high-capacity services provided by line operators for IP-VPN services that are used as private lines or WAN services that connect branch offices.

To meet these needs, Fujitsu developed and has now released the Si-R G200, a gigabit access router that delivers VPN throughput of 650 Mbps, enabling it to accommodate high-speed WAN services in excess of 100 Mbps.

In addition, as with other models in the Si-R series, the Si-R G200 strongly supports configurations, evaluations, and migrations in the IPv6 environment.

The new product will be displayed at Interop Tokyo 2011, held June 8-10 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.

Features of the Si-R G200

1. Delivers VPN throughput of 650 Mbps, accommodating high-speed WAN services

The Si-R G200 delivers VPN throughput of 650 Mbps, placing it in the top of its class in performance among products in the same price range in the industry. As it enables a high-speed network to be built at low cost, it can even be used as a center router, not just as a router for medium-sized branch offices.

In addition, all ports are compatible with 1000BASE-T(5), and the WAN ports can be connected to high-speed WAN services in excess of 100 Mbps.

2. Option enables support of LTE and other high-speed WAN services

As it can also support LTE, 3.5G wireless(6), and other high-speed wireless WAN services when a data communication card (sold separately) is used, the router can also be used to quickly set up virtual networks at temporary offices or event venues. It is also ideal for systems that need high-speed back-up lines to connect branch offices.

3. Safe and secure network continuity

As it supports automatic backup functions for wired or wireless WAN lines, communications continuity is assured even if there is a line failure. By using the wireless WAN monitoring functions which verify connection status, wireless WAN can be used with confidence as a backup line when there is a main line failure.

4. Can be set up without a PC

It supports external media start functions that enable network set up without a PC by simply plugging in a USB memory stick that contains the software and configuration specifications. The use of these functions enables quick set ups when initially deploying a branch office router or when equipment needs to be replaced due to an equipment failure.

The use of configu-trial functions which allow temporary settings for configuration specifications, avoids inoperability resulting from errors in settings when working from remote locations.

5. Environmentally-friendly product design

It supports eco-lamp functions, which allow the lamp to be temporarily turned off by using the CLI(7) setting or the button on the router. As well, sensors enable the router's power consumption to be monitored in real time, promoting better management of power consumption.

This product has been designated a "super green product" by Fujitsu because of its environmentally-friendly features.
