Fujitsu’s Zero Client will be available in time for CeBIT: the Zero Client D602 with a 22-inch screen, the first of a number of Zero Client systems, will be orderable in March. Fujitsu will present one of its tradeshow highlights, the first “real” Zero Client, in hall 4. The Zero Client is a front-end solution with all the advantages of a Thin Client and even more. Constructed as an intelligent display, the Zero Client needs only a LAN and power connection. In the second half of the year models will support Power over Ethernet and will therefore be useable with only one cable – the LAN cable.
The Zero Client truly lives up to its name as it needs no operating system, applications, local storage, processors, memory, fan or moving parts. Embedded in the monitor will be Pano Logic’s zero client technology, which is designed to connect end users to computing that is 100 percent centralized on the server. As a result, this means lower maintenance costs, roll-out costs and a longer life-span. The Zero Client simply establishes a connection to a virtual machine, so there is no need for workplace management. This makes the “total cost of ownership” significantly lower than even a Thin Client.
More and more companies are turning to Cloud Computing and Fujitsu’s innovative solution for entirely virtual clients takes present market approaches one step ahead, while remaining highly uncomplicated and cost effective. The Fujitsu Zero Client is the ideal terminal to start operating IT from the cloud or infrastructures hosted in the network.
Cost effective and straightforward operation
The Fujitsu Zero Client Model combines the advantages and user experience of a desktop PC with the cost and efficiency benefits of a terminal-based solution. The Fujitsu Zero Client is especially suited to organizations which scale up or down quickly or host sensitive data.
In particular, organizations such as government agencies, financial institutions, insurance companies, authorities or call centers etc. will profit from significant cost savings and reduced downtimes with the configuration-free Fujitsu Zero Client.. The device is ready in an instant and offers end users direct access to their virtual desktops. Data can be accessed from any machine within the infrastructure. Downtimes are minimized as damaged virtual machines can be restored from the backup within just a few minutes.
The new Fujitsu Zero Client D602 is ready for order from the beginning of March and can be seen at CeBIT at the Fujitsu booth in hall 4, or the CeBIT Green IT World in hall 8.
