Tokyo, December 01, 2009

Fujitsu today announced that it has begun a rainforest reforestation program in Malaysia as part of an environmental initiative accompanying the Fujitsu Ladies golf tournament.

On November 30, 2009, 1,000 saplings were planted to create the "Fujitsu Ladies' Forest" at the Fujitsu Group Malaysia Eco-Forest Park located in Kinarut, Sabah State, Malaysia. The saplings were donated from the "Birdie for Green" environmental program promoted at the Fujitsu Ladies 2009 golf tournament in Japan.

Background

Tree Planting at the "Fujitsu Ladies' Forest"

Since 2002, Fujitsu has supported rainforest reforestation activities in Malaysia by holding its annual tree-planting event at the Fujitsu Group Malaysia Eco-Forest Park in collaboration with the Sabah Forestry Development Authority (SAFODA). The creation of the "Fujitsu Ladies' Forest" at the park is a continuation of this effort.

The Fujitsu Ladies golf tournament is the successor to the Fujitsu Professional and Amateur Charity Golf Tournament. Since its inauguration in 1978, the golf tournament has continued to promote the spirit of charity. Through the "Birdie for Green" environmental program, organized as part of the 2009 tournament held in October, 1,000 saplings have been donated to the Fujitsu Group Malaysia Eco-Forest Park.

"Birdie for Green" is an initiative in which the number of saplings to be donated to rainforest reforestation is calculated based on the number of birdies, eagles, double eagles, and holes-in-one hit by players in the golf tournament.

Fujitsu continues to actively promote reforestation activities through other sporting events and plans to create a "Fujitsu Sports Forest" in the future.
