Fujitsu Releases GLOVIA smart Food Product Manufacturing PRONES

- Production planning solution for medium-sized food product manufacturers -

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, June 24, 2009

Fujitsu today announced that it has built on its GLOVIA smart Manufacturing PRONES production management solution, which is part of its GLOVIA smart integrated ERP solution for medium-sized enterprises, by developing GLOVIA smart Food Product Manufacturing PRONES, a new production management solution specifically for medium-sized food manufacturers. The new solution is available starting today in Japan.

With this new product, medium-sized food product manufacturers can track planning and fulfillment data across all production processes, from materials procurement to production, inspection, and shipment, as well as detailed information on all types of inventory, thereby enabling integrated management. By making their production processes visible, manufacturers can give highly-accurate and reliable information on their food production, allowing consumers to enjoy rich dietary habits with reassurance. It also enables manufacturers to implement continuous improvements across their entire production processes company-wide, thereby enhancing the efficiency of their operations.

Today in the food products industry, amid rising consumer demands for food safety, there is a strong desire for manufacturers to disclose solidly reliable data in order to demonstrate to consumers that their food products are safe and reliable. Large corporations are able to address this issue by deploying production management solutions, but there has not been a product appropriate for medium-sized companies in terms of cost and operability. Medium-sized companies have had to manage production information, such as information on materials, as well as instructions for production processes, using paper-based methods or different data formats for each process. As a result, conveying information to consumers on the safety and freshness of food products has been difficult and time-consuming.

To resolve these issues, Fujitsu developed GLOVIA smart Food Product Manufacturing PRONES, a new production management solution designed specifically for medium-sized food manufacturers. With this product, detailed information such as work instructions involving inventory, production and inspection coming from the production management division to each production branch, in addition to information including quality assurance records for each product, are tracked by lot number enabling integrated management. In addition, it is equipped with tamper-proof features and authorization functions for data revisions and approvals, thereby securing data reliability. Moreover, each type of work instruction has an alarm feature to warn manufacturers of products that do not meet quality standards or that are past their expiration date prior to the start of the work process, as well as a work stop feature to halt production thereby preventing problems before they occur.

With this product, medium-sized food product manufacturers can convey to consumers, based on highly-reliable data, that their food products are reliable, thereby providing consumers a sense of reassurance. It also allows customers to implement continuous improvements across their entire production processes company-wide, thereby raising the efficiency of their operations. For customers in food product manufacturing, this product organically integrates production data, enabling them to produce reliable food products more efficiently.
