KIDS DESIGN AWARD 2009 Local shared resources library system LB@SCHOOL (for elementary, junior high, and high schools)

August 26, 2009

Image of Local shared resources library system LB@SCHOOL

This system not only manages your own school library, but can also search, borrow, and lend books from other common libraries and schools. Equipped with bar code reader terminals, library members (from elementary to high school students), teachers, and librarians can operate the system. The system was designed to enable anyone to borrow or lend books easily by building in a human-centered design process that was evaluated by design specialists and observations of actual library use scenarios.

Inspector Comments

We respect the newness of the approach to achieving commonality by identifying school library books as a local resource. This system is also a blessing for schools from the viewpoint of the reduction in operating costs.
