Chinese Technology Forum 2015 at Guiyang Guizhou Successfully Hosted by Fujitsu R&D Center

Fujitsu R&D Center Co., Ltd. (FRDC) successfully hosted its annual Chinese Technology Forum (FRDC-CTF 2015) at Hyatt Regency Guiyang hotel in Guiyang, Guizhou province, China. About 200 experts and scholars from the Chinese government, universities and companies attended FRDC-CTF2015. They discussed around the theme of “Technology Innovation under New Normal State”, communicated about technology development and applications of ICT technology in Cultural Protection, Intelligent Transportation and the Internet of Things. The experts and scholars presented insightful and brilliant keynotes at the forum.

FRDC-CTF 2015 took place at Guiyang, where Big Data is the development strategy of the city. The forum received substantial support from the Guiyang government. Ms. Li Yao, Director of Guiyang Free Trade Zone Administrative Committee presented a keynote entitled “Innovations of Government under New Normal State”. She introduced all advantages for Guiyang’s Big Data development and the related strategy planning. Ms. Li talked about the development concept of Guiyang Free Trade Zone on innovations in technology, finance, policies and systems. In the context of the profoundly changing global economy structure and more intense international competition, the Chinese economy now encounters both whole new challenges and key strategy opportunities.

President of CCID, Mr. Li Shuchong presented a keynote entitled “Embrace Big Eco Era.” He talked about the innovative changes around product form, channel mode and user collaboration.

Under the theme of “Technology Innovation under New Normal State,” FRDC-CTF 2015 attendees engaged in dynamic in-depth dialogue to exchange views in a multitude of areas.

In the field of Intelligent Transportation, Mr. Chen Bo, the President of Suzhou Automotive Research Institute, Tsinghua University presented the recent development of global intelligent and connected vehicles, the status quo of domestic industr in China, and policy support of the Chinese government, in his keynote entitled “Innovation Application of ICT Technology on Intelligent Vehicle.” In the field of cultural protection, as well known, China is rich in ancient archives but there is a lack of related automation technology for ancient archives protection and utilization. The head of the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Science, Prof. Liu Chenglin presented a keynote entitled “Technical Issues on Image Analysis of Chinese Ancient Archives”, in which he talked about the technical challenges and technical development pattern of ancient document digitalization. Ms. Chen Li, head of Historical Archive Department, Nanjing Library introduced the method of ancient archives protection and its application on current stage, as well as the prospects, in her keynote entitled “Status Quo and Future Trends of Ancient Archive Digitalization.” In the area of the Internet of Things, Assistant Dean of School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Prof. Wang Xinbin whose topic was “The Internet of Things: Key Technologies and Application Visions”, elaborated on the usage of the Internet of Things in Smart City and Industry 4.0, and provided an outlook on the evolution from the Internet of Things to the Internet of Anything and forecasted that it will become the next technology to push the whole world in high speed development. Mr. Wang Tao, vice president of Winnet, made the speech of “Forest-fireproofing and Wireless Communication,” which was about the intelligent solution of forestry fire prevention.

Fujitsu Group speakers included Corporate Executive Officer and SVP, Head of Asia Region, Junichi Saito; President and Representative Director of Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd., Dr. Hideyuki Saso; Vice President of Automotive Technology Promotion Division of Manufacturing Industry Business Unit, Fujitsu Limited, Motoo Sasahara; Fellow, PFU Limited, Masahiko Kobako; President of Technical Computing Solutions Unit, Fujitsu Limited, Masahiko Yamada; SVP of Fujitsu Laboratories of America, Inc., Daiki Masumoto; President of Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe, Ltd., Dr. Tsuneo Nakata collectively presented overviews of Fujitsu Group business and R&D activities, and applications in new domains in the Chinese market. During the forum, FRDC and Fujitsu Group’s China-based companies also demonstrated many R&D achievements and products.

During the forum, the Fujitsu executives made an official visit to the Guiyang government. The deputy mayor of Guiyang, Mr. Xu Hao attended the meeting and introduced in detail the environment and foreign cooperation status of Guiyang. The two parties had an in-depth discussion of cooperation in big data processing. Under the strong support from Guiyang Free Trade Zone, the guests of the forum visited Guiyang Big Data Center and the exhibition room of Guiyang Free Trade Zone. The visits enhanced the understanding of the development strategy of Big Data and innovation development concept of the Free Trade Zone of Guiyang.
