Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited

Hong Kong, March 17, 2011

Fujitsu, the leading ICT solutions and services provider, today announces two new models in its ScanSnap family of portable scanners providing solutions across a broad spectrum of user needs – from the ScanSnap S1100’s groundbreaking tiny footprint that takes scanner portability to a new level, to the ScanSnap N1800 Network Scanner that incorporates enhanced tools to increase workplace efficiency for business users. Both new ScanSnap models allow users to access the power of cloud services like Google Docs and Evernote and where users can easily link and save their scanned data virtually anywhere and anytime. The new sleek style and the powerful bundled applications also make ScanSnap S1100 an ideal scanning solution for both on-the-move business users and gadget lovers at both personal and professional levels.

"In Hong Kong, we are seeing an increasing number of business users in documentation intensive vertical markets such as banking and finance, healthcare, government and education. Users embrace mobile scanners and network scanning to help improve their business process management and efficiency and reduce their overall workplace costs," said Christopher So, General Manager, Imaging Business Division, Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited.

"Both models are designed to facilitate scan-to-cloud: ScanSnap S1100 has packed high-level scanning capabilities in a truly portable form factor to offer business users on the road a powerful and easy-to-use tool for seamless connection to cloud, while ScanSnap N1800 Network Scanner is expandable to smoothly integrate with large business systems linking to cloud services. ScanSnap S1100 offers an intuitive mobile document-capture concept for users who are constantly on-the-move, including business travellers, sales staff and freelancers, as well as gadget lovers. Both models are consistent with every member of the ScanSnap family: Simply insert the document, press a single button, select the destination and you're done!" So added.

ScanSnap S1100: Easy and error-free operation, perfect mobility and ultimate productivity

The ultra-compact ScanSnap S1100, weighing 350 grams and measures just 273 x 47 x 34 mm, easily fits into a briefcase or purse and features "one touch", easy-to-use A4-size scanning and a range of productivity features. Users can scan up to eight A4 pages per minute and can also easily scan contracts, long receipts, business cards and plastic IDs. A manual Continuous Document Feeding (CDF) function enables non-stop, smooth scanning of multi-page documents. Numerous intelligent functions assure easy, error-free operation and the seamless connection to cloud storage, cloud based services and local applications:

- Intelligent Indexing: Converts highlighted words in a document into PDF keywords for faster, easier search.
- Intelligent Cropping and Rotation: The device will automatically align and crop documents even if they are inserted skewed, upside down or if they are of an odd size.
- Intelligent Contact Management: The CardMinder business-card software for PC or Cardiris for Mac (included) generates contact data directly for address books or CRM systems.
- Intelligent Document Processing: For convenient automated scanning, ScanSnap S1100 selects the page size and page orientation while adjusting the resolution accordingly, and will recognize a document as color, black and white or grayscale.

The ScanSnap S1100 offers users the flexibility of access across a wide range of platforms including PC and Mac. The scanner delivers bus-powered operation through a single USB cable and offers a new standard of convenience and utility for mobile users and business professionals who demand portability without compromising productivity. User productivity is assured by the ScanSnap's ABBYY FineReader for Software that transforms scanned documents into Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files at the push of a button.

ScanSnap N1800 Network Scanner: Flexible and expandable features to suit any business

Fujitsu's other new portable model, ScanSnap N1800 Network Scanner, is designed for use with networks and specifically to meet the growing demand for users looking to link scanning capabilities seamlessly into access of cloud services¹. ScanSnap N1800 Network Scanner enables users to email, save and print scanned data through a network. Software Add-Ins used with the device allow direct linking of scanned data to Google Docs, Evernote and Salesforce CRM, a major step forward for user productivity.

Like other members of Fujitsu’s ScanSnap family, ScanSnap N1800 Network Scanner offers easy set-up and use and scans at a speedy 20ppm/40ipm. It also allows users to preview scanned documents on a touch panel screen to eliminate the need to resort or rescan. It is designed to meet the needs of offices that use a simple network comprised of a file server and email server as well as more complex authentication-based (LDAP/LDAPS) networks working together with application hubs like Microsoft Exchange Server, SharePoint and Fax servers.

In addition, all ScanSnap N1800 Network Scanners come with a Central Administration function which enables administrators to configure and manage multiple network scanners collectively from a server/console. This keeps operation costs down and gives administrators flexibility when configuring the scanners to changes in the network.
