Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER sets FIVE records in Industry-Leading Performance Benchmarks.

PRIMEPOWER 2000 Registers #1 in TPC-C Non Clustered Performance, SAP R/3 two-tier and three-tier SD User Benchmarks, and SPECint2000 and SPECint_rate2000 Benchmarks

Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited

Hong Kong, April 03, 2001

Fujitsu Limited announced record results in industry-leading benchmarks on its PRIMEPOWER 2000 SPARC-compliant, Solaris-compatible servers. PRIMEPOWER 2000 now holds the distinction of being the world's most powerful transaction processing system.

On March 16, 2001, Fujitsu registered a new world record of 23,000 concurrent users for the PRIMEPOWER 2000 which also holds top spot in the SAP R/3 three-tier SD (Sales and Distribution) User Benchmark. With this impressive distinction, the PRIMEPOWER 2000 displaced the IBM pSeries 680, which had held the top rank since October 2000.

In addition, PRIMEPOWER 2000 took first place in the TPC-C benchmark as the best value among large enterprise servers, performing 222,772 transactions per minute (tpmC). The results of the Transaction Processing Performance Council show that a single, non-clustered PRIMEPOWER 2000, with 48 563-MHz SPARC64-GP processors, is #1 in verified transaction processing performance. There are now three Fujitsu Solaris-based servers on the TPC-C Top Ten list.

"Any system can win the occasional benchmark, but winning the CPR, ERP, and OLTP races simultaneously can only be achieved through excellent overall design," said Jonathan Eunice, principal analyst and IT advisor, Illuminata, Inc.

Fujitsu offers PRIMEPOWER servers across the entire spectrum of data center requirements and delivers the highest-capacity commercial UNIX servers in the marketplace. PRIMEPOWER servers feature a system bus with crossbar switch technology adapted from Fujitsu's mainframe design, resulting in an extremely high data transfer rate.

"PRIMEPOWER is designed for the most demanding processing environments in the world and our goal is to meet the twin requirements of top-end power and commercial applicability," said Mr. Takashi Aoki, Group President of Fujitsu's Computer Systems Group. "This TPC-C test shows PRIMEPOWER is now the most powerful transaction processing system available, and adds to its status as the ideal business server, as shown previously by its SAP SD benchmark records."
