Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited introduces the new 3.5" Magneto-Optical Drive - FN640 SlimMate MO USB

Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, one of the leading suppliers of MO drives and computer peripherals in the world, introduces a new member, FN640 SlimMate MO USB to the FN MO family. The new model has an ultra-slim and refresh look. It is 25% smaller than the previous model and is in luminous champagne color. It weights only 670g and is 230g lighter than its predecessor.

Nowadays, files we have to deal with are rather large, thus we need a more reliable storage and backup device. Traditional 1.44MB floppy diskettes which offer low storage capacity can no longer fulfill our requirements. Fujitsu's FN Magneto-Optical (MO) Drive, which has high capacity, high reliability and removable features, meets the storage needs of most companies.

In the WinBench 99 - Business Disk WinMark 99 Disk Playback / Bus test, it reaches a speed of 562kB per second and is 64kB faster than its previous model. In the Disk Playback/Removable Media test, FN640 SlimMate MO USB performs 408kB per second and is 94kB faster than before.

More importantly, the new model delivers capacity up to 640MB and achieves transfer rate up to 3.9MB per second. It operates with a seek time of 23ms and a rotational speed at 3,600rpm. Hence, FN640 SlimMate MO USB is highly suitable for data-intensive and multimedia applications as well as files with video, audio, graphic and photographs.

FN640 SlimMate MO USB can be written more than 10 million times. It can also withstand hostile environment, such as moisture, dust, shock, vibration and strong magnetic fields. The product supports all 3.5" conventional media with read/write capability from 128MB to 640MB. Users may choose an appropriate media capacity according to their budget and usage. FN640 is also compatible to all PCs and Apple Macintosh platforms. It comes with device drivers and set-up programs for Windows98/98SE/ME/2000 as well as Mac OS8.6 or above.
