Management of the Restricted chemical substances in products
Policy of Management for Chemical substances
Fujitsu group define the substances which are harmful to human health and the environment as "Fujitsu Group specified Banned Substances". We have been offering the products which don't contain them by working on the strict elimination through the green procurement activity.
In addition, we set the criteria of "Fujitsu Group Specified Control Substances" listing the substances which may be harmful, considering it an important task to minimize the risk brought by certain substances. We manage the content weights of them so that we will consider shifting these substances to our specified Banned Substances, based on the precautional principle in order to ensure customer safety and protect the environment.

Fujitsu Group establishes the "Green procurement Direction" and is instructing our suppliers to carry out thorough the management of substances contained in their products with their construction of chemical substances management systems (CMS). Therefore we promote strengthened management of chemical substances with a strong emphasis on source management.

As well as the thoroughgoing management of chemical substances in all processes from design to delivery as a response to the RoHS (*1) Directive, we are also moving forward with our response to the European REACH regulation (*2) . We regard the REACH obligation of information communication on the specific substances contained in products as an issue for the whole supply chain, we are participating in activities of industry associations such as JAMP (*3) and JGPSSI (*4), and we are studying the implementation of an efficient scheme.

Management of substances that may be harmful
We revised Green Procurement Guideline in October 2009 to newly define "the candidate substances of Authorization of REACH
regulation" as the "Fujitsu Group specified Reportable Substances". (Some of them are already listed in "Fujitsu Group
specified Reportable Substances".)
In addition, we have been listed substances that may be harmful as "Control Substances", and manage their content weight
in our products. The list can be customized by each our group company, taking product specification, local conditions and
stakeholders' opinion into consideration. Target substances are as follows.
We will consider shifting those of both substances to our specified Banned Substances based on the precautional principle,
gathering the information and findings on hazard and risk of substances.

| 001 | Anthracene |
| 002 | 4,4'-Diaminodiphenylmethane (4,4'-MDA) |

We collect the comprehensive data on certain chemical substances in parts and materials purchased from suppliers through the supply chain, in order to figure out inclusion of them in our products. As information-gathering tool, we use JGPSSI survey format and JAMP survey format which are industrial common in Japan. Especially JAMP survey format requires reporting the inclusion of the following substances;
- around 950 substances which are carcinogenic, mutagenic & toxic to reproduction.
(category 1 & 2 of carcinogenic, mutagenic & toxic to reproduction in 67/548/EEC Directive Annex I) - around 20 substances which are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic.
(substances fulfilling the PBT criteria in ESIS (European Chemical Substances Information System)) etc.
We compile the data of these chemical substances and utilize them for the development of eco-conscious products so that we ensure customer safety and protect the environment.
Also, we require our suppliers not to use PVC as much as possible, and limit the use of PVC except for cable coverings and electronic component insulators such as heat-shrink sheets.
