Fujitsu Awards over $10,000 in STEM Scholarships to Richardson Independent School District Seniors

Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc. has partnered with The Richardson ISD Foundation to award three STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Richardson Independent School District (RISD). The scholarship was created to encourage students who have completed and excelled in four years of STEM classes to continue their education in a college or university. The 2022 recipients and scholarship amounts are named below:

  • Marybella Martinez, Richardson High School - $4,500
  • Paul Carter, Richardson High School - $3,500
  • Sydney Banks, Berkner High School - $2,500

Each recipient met the following criteria, with awards based on a combination of factors, including academic performance and personal character:

  • Achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Took four years in any combination of science, technology, engineering and/or math classes passing with a grade B+ or higher
  • Will enter a two- or four-year college or university and major in a STEM field
  • Submitted an essay describing their decision to choose a STEM field as their major and specify their major STEM field of study
  • Received two written recommendations from either their STEM teachers, counselors, extracurricular instructors/coaches, or mentors
