The Fujitsu tri-band, O-RAN compliant 5G radio unit (RU) has been named the Best Performance Solution in Open RAN at the Open RAN World Awards, held in Berlin on April 26. The award recognizes the best solution to accelerate Open RAN performance, based on unique characteristics and demonstrated deployment data.

The Fujitsu tri-band RU is the first 5G O-RAN compliant RU of its kind on the market, providing high efficiency in a small form factor that enables mobile network operators (MNOs) to reduce power, leasing and other operational costs. With a more compact form factor offering multiple frequency bands in one unit, MNOs have greater flexibility to choose sites that offer the best possible network performance. Fujitsu O-RAN compliant radios have been successfully integrated with over five different vendors’ Distributed Units (DUs) in multiple operator networks around the world, fostering a more competitive and open ecosystem.
