Fujitsu 1FINITY Ultra Optical System Wins Two Lightwave Innovation Review Awards

February 22, 2024

The Fujitsu 1FINITY™ Ultra Optical System has been awarded two Lightwave Innovation Review Awards from Lightwave Magazine, receiving high scores of 4.5 for Optical Transport Systems and 4.0 in the Data Center Interconnect Platforms category. This award, which recognizes top innovations within the optical networking industry, is based on evaluation by an independent panel of judges comprised of experts from the optical communications community

The Fujitsu 1FINITY Ultra Optical System delivers extreme performance and hyper-reliability for true terabit optical networking, while simplifying, automating and optimizing system turn-up and sustainable operation. The optical transport platform, which encompasses the T900 Series Transponder and the L900 Series Open Optical Line System (OLS), enables extended reach, enhanced wavelength and optimized fiber capacity at a lower cost/ per bit/ per kilometer. Moreover, the 1FINITY T900 Series Transponder is the only available optical transponder to incorporate closed-loop liquid cooling, providing improved heat transfer, reduced energy consumption and greater reliability. This not only helps network operators reduce operational expenses, but also meet business objectives and sustainability goals.

“As high-speed capacity demands continue to escalate, service providers and hyperscalers require more cost-effective, sustainable, high-performance optical transport. The next-generation 1FINITY Ultra Optical System fills this need with the ideal balance of cost, reach and capacity with simplified operation,” said Rod Naphan, senior vice president and head of the photonics system business unit at Fujitsu. “The honoree status awarded the 1FINITY Ultra Optical System by Lightwave Magazine recognizes Fujitsu’s innovation in hyper-reliable terabit networking for optical transport and data center interconnect networks.”

“On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate Fujitsu on achieving a well-deserved honoree status,” said Sean Buckley, Lightwave editor in chief. “This competitive program enables Lightwave to showcase and applaud the most innovative products, projects, technologies, and programs that significantly impact the industry.”
