Fujitsu Laboratories of America Researcher Named IEEE Fellow

Prestigious Award Conferred on Dr. Sreeranga Rajan, Fellow at Fujitsu Laboratories of America

Fujitsu Laboratories of America Inc.

Sunnyvale, CA, January 06, 2016 Fujitsu Laboratories of America today announced that Dr. Sreeranga Rajan, Fellow at Fujitsu Laboratories of America has been honored as an IEEE Fellow. Dr. Rajan is being recognized as a technical leader for contributions to scalable formal verification of hardware and software systems. His early work on integration of symbolic reasoning and model checking, and later research in system reduction techniques have enabled formal verification technologies to scale from academic examples to large commercial-strength systems. Dr. Rajan’s leadership has led to development of practical test generation tools for Java, JavaScript, and C++ software, widening the application scope to web apps, mobile apps, and embedded systems. These tools based on formal program semantics significantly improve system dependability by giving the ability to unearth deep hard-to-find bugs at lower cost than manual testing. With digital devices and connectivity increasingly ruling our lives, dependable hardware and software ensure better safety and security of our society.
The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one-percent of the total voting membership. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.
“As a research laboratory focused on human-centric innovation, we further IEEE’s mission for advancing technology for humanity” said Daiki Masumoto, Senior Vice President at Fujitsu Laboratories of America. “Given the synergies between our organizations, we are delighted that Dr. Rajan has achieved this distinction and recognition from the IEEE”.
