Fujitsu Awarded Global Contract to Implement SAP® S/4HANA for Smithfield Foods

Fujitsu America Inc.

Sunnyvale, CA, September 11, 2015

Fujitsu, a leading information communication technology company, today announced a multi-million dollar global contract with Smithfield Foods to implement SAP® S/4HANA, the next-generation business suite built on the SAP HANA® platform. As part of the agreement, Fujitsu will convert Smithfield’s current set of SAP applications to SAP S/4HANA, helping to improve the food company’s supporting applications, business processes and standardization.

“I want to express our appreciation for the trusted partnership and the delivery of application services that Fujitsu has provided throughout an eight year long relationship,” said Mansour Zadeh, senior vice president and global CIO of Smithfield Foods. “Fujitsu understands our business and offers flexible business application solutions and perspectives that fit well with our model and strategy. Their deep commitment to seeing our business succeed makes this a winning partnership for Smithfield and Fujitsu.”

Fujitsu has been an IT partner of Smithfield Foods and its operating companies for more than 8 years, and this new contract represents the further strengthening of the partnership and highlights exceptional Fujitsu solutions as well as the world-class talent that works on the team. The installation and implementation of SAP S/4HANA will take place over the next 16 months, during which time Fujitsu will assist in the consolidation of three systems running the SAP ERP application into a single ERP instance in the recently-released SAP S/4HANA suite. More than 35 Fujitsu consultants will work on this engagement in collaboration with SAP and Smithfield.

“Now that we have an integrated Smithfield and Fujitsu team with expertise in SAP solutions, I trust that, together, we will execute one of the best initiatives ever to make use of SAP HANA,” shared Zadeh.

“The shared, long-term value for all parties is really something to celebrate, and I would like to thank our core team members for their efforts and contribution to the success of our longtime partnership with Smithfield Foods,” said Alex Attal, executive vice president, Business Application Services for Fujitsu America, Inc. “We look forward to continuing our great work with Smithfield, and also bringing this new, world-class technology to more enterprises in the Americas.”
