Third-Generation Platform With Latest Intel Technology Runs Cooler, Provides Greater Connectivity and Security; 40% Smaller "Coupe" Model Fits in the Most Challenging Store Environments

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire), September 20, 2011

Fujitsu today announced the TP-X II 500 Series point-of-sale (POS) controller family designed for retailers that require powerful performance, flexibility and connectivity in a more environmentally sustainable retailing platform. The highly configurable third release of the successful TP-X POS solution incorporates 2nd generation Intel® CoreTM i3, i5 and Pentium® processors, delivering the power of a desktop computer in two mobile laptop form factors that let retailers create customer touch points in the most diverse and challenging environments. The retail-hardened TP-X II 500 Series controllers run cooler and consume less power, increasing reliability while reducing costs. Configurable with up to 14 powered USB ports, the TP-X II eliminates the need for power bricks, further increasing reliability while providing the connectivity retailers need to meet the evolving demands of today's shoppers.

"We developed the TP-X II 500 Series to provide retailers with resilient, flexible POS systems that allow them to respond to consumers who want a more helpful and interactive in-store experience," said Bruce Donis, Vice President of U.S. Retail Sales at Fujitsu America. "Our latest POS release offers higher performance, greater reliability, and two form factors, including the extremely compact 'Coupe' to fit any store environment. Ample connectivity to the peripherals can accelerate sales, enhance the customer experience, and optimize retail management. By offering these highly configurable POS systems, we are making it as easy as possible for retailers to create the most complete retailing solution for their particular environment."

"Intel's 2nd generation Core process offer a range of benefits in performance, enhanced graphics -- as well as reduced total cost of ownership through advanced power management," said Michelle A. Tinsley, General Manager, Embedded Computing Division at Intel. "With solutions such as Fujitsu's TP-X II 500 point-of-sale device, retailers will enjoy increased reliability and flexibility to create customer touch points in a variety of environments and better meet shoppers' needs in this rapidly evolving industry."

With its second-generation Intel® CoreTM processors, the TP-X II performs faster, runs cooler, and offers greater security. The TP-X II also minimizes service calls with enhanced control and remote management for retailers with industry-leading manageability standards such as Intel AMT and vPro, WMI and DMTF, and support for Microsoft® Windows 7 Professional For Embedded Systems, Windows Embedded POSReady 2009, Windows Embedded POSReady 7, and Microsoft Windows® XP operating systems.

Featuring independent dual screens, the highly configurable TP-X II 500 Series is available in a standard form factor for typical retailing environments and a compact "Coupe chassis" that offers a 40 percent reduction in volume for challenging environments where space is at a premium. With up to 14 powered USB ports and a 300W high-efficiency power supply, the TP-X II 500 Series makes it easy to connect a full complement of peripherals directly to the controller without worrying about multiple power outlets or unattractive power strips. With an optional second hard disk and integrated RAID controller, the TP-X II can be configured as a resilient server supporting multiple applications and client terminals. With dual screens and support for high-definition audio, this single platform can also be deployed in multiple roles ranging from a POS or kiosk, to a service desk and more. Both TP-X II form factors can be configured to meet a retailer's cost and performance needs, and will be offered through Fujitsu's direct sales force and channel partners.
