Fujitsu Director Re-Elected to Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Board of Directors

Board Role Helps Chart Future of Carrier-Class Ethernet Development

Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions, announced today that Ralph Santitoro, director of Carrier Ethernet market development at Fujitsu Network Communications, was re-elected to the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Board of Directors. The MEF is the industry’s leading group dedicated to accelerating the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services.

In addition to his position on the board, Santitoro co-chairs the MEF’s Professional Certification sub-committee where he is creating a new Carrier Ethernet professional certification program and is co-developing a new technical specification that defines Ethernet access services. Santitoro also participates in the Global Interconnect Working Group to help simplify and accelerate the deployment of Ethernet services through standardized ENNIs and Carrier Ethernet Exchanges.

“I’m honored to be part of the MEF in its efforts to build consensus among service providers, vendors and end users,” said Santitoro. “This role enables me to continue guiding the MEF’s strategic direction to ultimately make Carrier Ethernet networks and services ubiquitous, worldwide.”

Santitoro is a founding member and leading contributor in the MEF since the forum’s inception in 2001. He authored the MEF’s primer and most popular paper on Ethernet services with over 100,000 copies downloaded and co-authored the MEF white paper “Security Best Practices for Carrier Ethernet”. He also co-developed the industry’s first Ethernet services standards.

Santitoro is responsible for thought leadership and market development of connection-oriented Ethernet applications and services using Fujitsu packet optical networking solutions. He created Fujitsu’s Carrier Ethernet Webinar Series where he speaks on Carrier Ethernet technologies, applications and services to educate the market. He is a widely-published author a frequent speaker at industry events on Ethernet services, Ethernet interconnects, Ethernet OAM, Carrier Ethernet security and wireless backhaul. For over 25 years he has developed innovative telecom, computing and information security products and services for enterprises, SMBs, communications service providers and consumer markets. Ralph holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.
