Leading Guide for Office Equipment Awards Eight Fujitsu Scanners, Highlighting the Company in Nearly Every Product Category

Sunnyvale, CA, November 23, 2009

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., the market leader in document imaging scanners and services, is pleased to announce that eight Fujitsu scanners are selected as "Editor’s Choice Award" winners in the Better Buys for Business 2010 Scan-to-File Guide, published in the November issue. The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 & S1500M, fi-6010N, fi-6130 & fi-6230, fi-6670 & fi-6770, and fi-5900C are deemed winners in five out of six product categories, including multipurpose, networked, low-volume, mid-range, and high-end production models. This signals the tenth consecutive year Fujitsu has won the "Editor’s Choice Award" in the publication’s Scan-to-File Guide.

Awarded once per year in each guide and determined independently by the staff of this leading independent authority on office equipment, the "Editor’s Choice Award" signifies the models that deliver the highest level of performance and offer the greatest value for consumers in each product category. The winning Fujitsu scanners were evaluated against models from all major manufacturers and analyzed to determine the strength of their features and specifications as well as how they measure against competing products.

Both the ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M models are honored in the multipurpose category and summed up as "versatile document scanners with surprisingly good features." In addition to highlighting the scanners’ speed, ease of use, intelligent paper feed detection, and intelligent software, the guide calls out that the models "automatically adjust for higher-resolution scanning if they detect small documents that tend to have smaller font sizes, such as business cards," which the editors applaud as a "nice new feature."

Rounding out the networked category is the fi-6010N, which is deemed "an excellent choice… if you have a workgroup that needs a top-quality shared scanner." The scanner is praised for its office-linking functionality, including Scan to Email, Scan to Folder, Scan to Network Fax, Scan to FTP, and Scan to Print, as well as its advanced imaging features and programmable function buttons.

In the low-volume production category, the fi-6130 and fi-6230 are selected as "Editor’s Choice Award" winners for the second year in a row because of their "extremely solid features at an affordable price." Optimized for superior scanner performance and reliability, the scanners are awarded for their innovative features, advanced technology and software intelligence designed to deliver high efficiency and ease of integration. The slightly higher-end models also receive praise by the editors: "the fi-6140 and fi-6240 are compact, speedy color-capable scanners with excellent features… Fujitsu keeps making its already solid scanner line better and better."

With fast scanning, ultrasonic double-feed detection with advanced control, intelligent functions, advanced image processing in hardware, and valuable bundled software tools and applications including Kofax® VRS 4.2 Professional, the fi-6670 and fi-6770 scanners are awarded in the mid-range production category. The guide calls these models "affordable, fast and rich in features while combining simple, effective design with excellent imaging software and scanning power."

Finally, the editors are "very impressed" with the fi-5900C, selecting it as a winner in the high-end production category once again. Its large volume paper handling, triple ultrasonic double feed detection, ability to handle unconventional materials such as tape receipts or sticky notes, robust bundled software, and standard features such as text/photo separation are applauded in the guide.

"We’re honored to be recognized as an 'Editor’s Choice Award' winner for the tenth year in a row by the leading authority on the office equipment industry, said Scott Francis, vice president of marketing, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "Fujitsu is committed to offering superior scanning at competitive price points to meet the evolving needs of our valued customers, and this milestone industry recognition is a testament to that ongoing commitment."
