Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M Wins iF Product Design Award 2009

Smallest Color Double-sided ADF Mobile Scanner Recognized for Outstanding Quality & Design

Fujitsu Computer Products of America

Sunnyvale, CA, April 14, 2009

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., the market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that the ScanSnap S300M mobile scanner won the prestigious international Forum (iF) product design award 2009. The iF Design Awards are internationally recognized, and are awarded not only based on outward design, but also on functionality, environmental consciousness shown, ease of use, and innovation.

“Receiving the iF award for our ScanSnap S300M is an outstanding confirmation of the strategy we have been pursuing for many years; constant innovation combined with smart design,” said Victor Kan, vice president of sales and marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “Developed to maintain the advanced functionality of previous award-winning ScanSnap models, we engineer all our scanning systems with a focus on reliability, ease of use, and functionality. That said, Fujitsu has made a commitment to its community of users, to develop exceptional products that offer incomparable value.”

The ScanSnap S300M is a powerful resource designed to serve a vital role in our personal and professional lives: recording our transactions, communicating our ideas, and assisting us in collaboration. As the world’s smallest mobile, color, duplex ADF (automatic document feeder) scanner for Mac® users, the ScanSnap S300M complements the popularity of mobile productivity solutions among the Mac community. The ScanSnap S300M is a completely portable scanner, weighing less than 3.1 lbs with an ultra-compact footprint measuring a mere 11.2” x 3.7” x 3.0”. It can operate from a USB connection, without the support of an AC power supply, enabling mobile users to scan paper documents, receipts, bills, invoices and business cards anywhere they go. The ScanSnap S300M also benefits those who need a home or office scanner that is quick, efficient, and takes up little space on any desk.

More than 1,000 contestants from 39 different countries nominated their designs for judging by iF jury members, who evaluated nearly 3,000 entries for 2009. All products were evaluated based on rigorous criteria including innovativeness, functionality, design quality, material, ergonomics and environmental compatibility.

“This year we were once again pleased with the keen response throughout the world to the iF product design award. Not only were there a great number of entries but also the diversity within the individual categories increased. Technical innovations come to us from different countries all over the world, guaranteeing quality and a broad range of competition,” explains Ralph Wiegmann, iF Managing Director.

About the iF Design Awards
