Fujitsu Scanners Receive "Editor's Choice" Award from Better Buys for Business

Fujitsu Computer Products of America

Sunnyvale, CA, November 07, 2006

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, is proud to announce that the Fujitsu fi-5120C, fi-5220C, fi-5530C and fi-5900C document scanners, ranging from the workgroup to production-level scanning categories, were selected as “Editor’s Choice” Award winners in the Better Buys for Business annual scan-to-file guide published in its September 2006 issue.

Better Buys for Business is the nation’s leading independent authority on document imaging equipment, including copiers, printers, faxes, and scanners. While the publication evaluates numerous models from all major manufacturers when selecting award recipients, only one or two from each category achieve “Editor’s Choice” status -- a designation for machines that are analyzed to determine the strength of their features and specifications and how they stack up against competitors. Additionally, Better Buys for Business’s independent Editor’s Choice Awards go to those models that the publication believes will deliver the highest levels of performance and offer the greatest value for consumers in a given price range.

The guide gives praise to the Fujitsu fi-5120C and fi-5220C scanners stating, “one very impressive feature of these two models is ultrasonic double-feed detection. Few models at this minimal price have a true thickness-based double-feed detection feature…. With these new models, Fujitsu has added embossed card scanning capability, making the units attractive to medical offices that scan numerous patient ID cards… The price is the big story here. Listing for $1,195, the fi-5120C scanner is one of the least expensive true document scanners. It has a 2,000-page daily duty cycle rating.”

Some of the feedback about the Fujitsu fi-5530C scanner included, “another big plus is in imaging software. Kofax VRS® Basic, becoming an industry standard, is included now... The fi-5530C scanner also comes with Fujitsu’s ScandAll 21 software… Add the lighter weight of this scanner, and it’s clear that the fi-5530C is a better buy for most users. This scanner is a standout machine to the Fujitsu product line.”

Finally, Better Buys for Business reported that the fi-5900C scanner “can handle large volumes of paperwork thanks to its 500-sheet automatic document feeder. Duplexing is standard on this model, which can scan documents up to 12" x 17" in size. It comes standard with hardware-based VRS 4.0 Plus… The machine’s bundled software includes Adobe Acrobat® software and ScandAll. Noise removal, dynamic thresholding, text/photo separation, smoothing, blank page removal, and smart text orientation all come standard on this unit. We’re very impressed with this machine. It combines speed with advanced features to ensure productivity and accuracy for a reasonable price.”
