Fujitsu to Demonstrate PalmSecure Biometric Device and Mag EraSURE Degaussers at ASIS International 2006

Fujitsu Computer Products of America

Sunnyvale, CA, September 18, 2006

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced that it will showcase its PalmSecure™ biometric authentication device and Mag EraSURE™ degaussers at the ASIS International 2006 conference, September 25-28, 2006 at the San Diego Convention Center.

The Fujitsu PalmSecure is a palm vein based authentication system that utilizes advanced biometric security technology. The contactless sensor offers an easy-to-use, hygienic solution for identity verification by capturing a person’s vein pattern image with near-infrared rays. As veins are internal in the body and have a wealth of differentiating features, attempts to forge an identity are extremely difficult, thereby enabling a high level of security. Additionally, the sensor of the PalmSecure device can only recognize the pattern if the deoxidized hemoglobin is actively flowing within the individual’s veins.

The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE P3E and P2V are innovative degaussers that erase magnetically recorded data from hard disk drives and tapes. Listed on the National Security Agency (NSA) Degausser Evaluated Product List, the Mag EraSURE P3E is the ultimate in high security data disposal. Available through Security Engineered Machinery (SEM), the P3E model ensures the complete erasure of all data, leaving no recoverable trace or residue. The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE P2V is a user-friendly, commercial degausser that is an effective and economical solution for industries that routinely deal with sensitive information. Data becomes permanently unrecoverable by commercial means1 once exposed to the powerful magnet in the P2V device.

ASIS International, with more than 34,000 members, is the largest international organization for professionals responsible for security, including managers and directors of security. In addition, corporate executives and other management personnel, as well as consultants, architects, attorneys, and federal, state, and local law enforcement, are becoming involved with ASIS to better understand the constant changes in security issues and solutions. ASIS is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security practices by developing educational programs and materials that address broad security concerns.
