Fujitsu EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa)
Joseph Reger has been Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with various Fujitsu entities since 2002.As of August 1st, 2014 he was appointed as CTO for Fujitsu’s Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) region. In August 2015 he was awarded the title of Fujitsu Fellow.
As CTO, he advises both the company and its customers in the implementation of new technologies. In this role he is the driving force for Fujitsu’s portfolio and technology strategy. Most recently he was instrumental in the development of the Fujitsu cloud computing strategy. Currently he is focusing on the topics of Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and Digital Transformation.
A renowned industry expert and visionary, Joseph is recognized for his ability to understand and predict the IT trends that will most impact the future of business. Working with Fujitsu’s customers, he helps to determine and implement the innovations most appropriate to their strategy. His role is paramount in helping Fujitsu choose wisely when deciding on technology directions.
Joseph joined the company as Head of Technology Marketing in 1998 from IBM, where he was Executive Consultant and Chief IT Architect. He started his career in academia, in the field of theoretical physics and computer sciences research. He has studied and worked at Universities in Hungary, Norway, USA and Germany. In the US, he spent three years as a visiting scientist at the University of California in Santa Cruz, engaged in interdisciplinary research of complex systems. He obtained his PhD at the University of Cologne, and received the highest German academic degree (habilitation) at the University of Mainz.
