Daryl P. Nazareth
Medical Physicist, Radiation Medicine Department
Roswell Park Cancer Institute
Daryl P. Nazareth earned his PhD in Physics from the University at Buffalo in 2005. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland in the area of medical physics, specializing in radiation oncology. From 2007 to the present, he has been a Medical Physicist in the Radiation Medicine Department at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. He is also a faculty member in the Department of Radiology at the University at Buffalo, and is very active in teaching and mentoring. He has supervised several master’s and PhD students, and has also mentored high school and undergraduate students through internships and workshops. In 2016, Dr. Nazareth served as President of the Upstate New York Association of Physicists in Medicine.
Dr. Nazareth’s research interests primarily focus on the application of new computational techniques to problems in radiation oncology. Among his numerous peer-reviewed papers, he has published research on the use of D-Wave’s quantum annealing technology in beamlet intensity optimization. He believes that the entire field of medicine can benefit tremendously from recent technological advances, and is excited about collaborating with experts in other disciplines.
