  • D Streat, Reading area, UK

Perfect scanning solution. Good robust scanners, compared to some of the flimsy models on the market. Easy and fast to digitise nearly anything you may wish to scan and keep a soft copy of. Makes life easier to deal with as can easily scan paperwork, file and then shred all the boring paperwork that can easily take over any office or home. Generally makes life much tidier.

  • Mike Dobbins, teacher

I teach in Spain and often commute back to the UK. Moving books and work between countries is not practical so I scan what I need and transfer it via Dropbox. Easy. This scanner has made my work and life a great deal easier. Thanks.

  • Joe Greenman, English teacher, Germany

I’ve been teaching English at the university level for about forty years and - like people in every field - have been affected immeasurably by the "computer revolution." Other than the computer itself, though, in terms of hardware, no other single piece of equipment has changed my professional life like the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300. Actually, I first saw the ScanSnap in use at my tax consultant’s office - he has the S1500. Of course I had had a flatbed scanner for years, but I never realized what a time-saver a document scanner could be. Over the last two decades I had scanned thousands of students’ exams and other documentation (here in Germany we’re required to hold onto these things for, I think, seven years). I dreaded the end of every semester because of the hours of hand-feeding and flipping the documents in my flatbed scanner. Those five minutes at the tax consultant’s ended this drudgery forever. What previously took four or five hours is now done in 45 minutes! And it’s not only the machine itself: I find the ScanSnap software intuitive, easy to use, and a perfect complement to a wonderfully engineered and manufactured piece of equipment. One thing I was a bit skeptical about - after several bad experiences with various fax machines over the years - was the rubber rollers that feed in the documents. I don’t know how Fujitsu did it (where HP, Panasonic, and others quite clearly failed), but I have never - NEVER - had a document jam in my ScanSnap. In summary, I am immensely pleased with my Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300. I’ve had it now three years, and all I can say is it works fantastically well. It has, indeed, changed my life. P.S. My wife also uses the ScanSnap for her work and our household bookkeeping. She is every bit as enthusiastic about it as I am.

I wanted to give my review about the S1100, as I really believe this scanner is an amazing product. First of all the size is great, it’s about the size of a 30cm ruler and fits into a laptop bag with ease. The product is really small and at first, I was a little worried what sort of quality to expect, but as this is made by Fujitsu, I had no doubts that the quality would be great. One aspect which I really like, is the fact the scanner uses a single USB connection. No external power supply is required, simply one cable does everything. A neat touch for being on the road, or for quick and neat connections. Setup of the scanner is easy, and takes around 10mins to install. I tested this on Mac and PC and both work with ease. The software works great, and can be used in it’s basic or advanced controls, and either one provides amazing results. I was very pleased with the scan quality, it’s of a very high quality, and scanning is quick and efficient. Personally I wanted a scanner to allow me to upload bills and other documents onto my computer for archiving purposes, and to upload to the cloud. One useful feature is the ability to scan into Evernote which is a cloud based system, which works similar to Microsoft Onenote. This is very handy as your documents can be scanned into Evernote and then accessed anywhere in the world, as long as you have a computer with internet. This can make life very convenient and best of all, Evernote is free. Overall, this product is brilliant, I don’t have any issues with recommending to friends, family and business people, and believe it will help many users, from home to on the road, to business users needing to fax, email documents when visiting clients etc.It has some very good features built into the scanner / software which can help with scanning business cards, and correcting documents which have not been scanned in straight. If I was going to suggest some additions, then the ability to scan 2 sided would be a good althought it’s not much of a problem with this model, and having a little carry case to keep it protected. Other than this, it’s a great product, which is very small, excellent build quality and backed by Fujitsu as a leading brand of scanner technology.

  • Malcolm G.

What took me five or six minutes with a flat bed scanner took seconds with the ScanSnap. Very impressed. I also appreciate the effort to produce a Mac centric product. Seen the adverts, the videos and read the reviews.

  • Derek Hallam, Nationwide Stainless, Sheffield

It is neat, smart, quick and efficient. Other than the obvious uses I find it good to move people away from faxes to emails by writng answers to their fax enquiries then scan to email for reply, very convenient!

  • Christopher Cann, legal consultant, Newport, Shropshire

The ScanSnap S1500 has proved to be as good as the commentators on the web said it would be. it scans really quickly, takes different sized paper in its stride, scans duplex automatically and ignores if the side is blank, and is easy to clear blockages from when I forget to take out a stapler. An excellent buy for anyone else looking for a small business scanner. It even folds up really small when not in use and opens like the petals of a flower when needed. • Paul McKay, Retired

One picture tells a thousand words. After the publication of my article in the Junk Rig Association Newsletter, I was contacted by a gentleman from Belgium. Now I am helping him to design a sail for his new boat. We email each other in English but he speaks and writes it as a Second Language. I have been giving him complicated suggestions and ideas then writing second paragraphs to try and simply and amplify my points. Now I have my ScanSnap I simply do a quick sketch of my idea, scan it to email and save myself hours of typing and repetition. My ScanSnap S1100 is a brilliant piece of kit!

  • Alexander Schomburg, AIXIV

Honestly, I just received my ScanSnap S1500, but I guess that first minutes perspective should be covered here, too. I really like the packaging it is small and environmental, but at the same time very clever. The scanner itself is amazingly solid and compact. It looks awesome on my desk and matches my MacBook like an apple the other. I always planned to use the S1500 with DevonThink Pro Office, because it handles the scanner pretty well and I read a lot of positive journals about this combination. The main food for my new scanner will be bills and letters. That’s what it is supposed to be for and my first tries showed it works perfectly

  • Kolja Hecht, Germany

This machine is just amazing! I started off about 2 months ago starting to scan and file all of my paper documents and I’m done with the first charge (everything, really everything from the last 5 (!) years. I estimated it’d take me until summer next year. I admit that I got addicted as it almost became fun to empty one ring binder after another. I love the pace I love MY accuracy I love the ScanSnap!

  • Chris Eltaib, UK

I have several scanners in my office, but the one that I always use is the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 (and, no, Fujitsu didn’t give me one, I bought it myself). Is it perfect? Well, no, but I love the way it works in my particular situation. Let’s take a look at why I like it. The main reasons why I like this scanner are: It is very reliable, I’ve never had it fail to work. It is fast, scanning 20 pages per minute in colour mode, 40 pages per minute in B&W. It is absolutely easy to operate – most of the time I just stack up the documents and press one scan button. The document feeder can hold up to 50 sheets. It provides automatic duplex scanning, where it will scan both sides of the document in one pass, and if the back side is blank it will skip that. Images are cleaned up automatically. This includes auto rotation (to straighten out documents that might have fed at an angle, which can happen with narrow receipt documents), automatic detection of color documents, and more. You can mix different document sizes in one stack, although sometimes you may have to separate some kinds of documents. It works most of the time, but if I have a bunch of short documents mixed with really long receipt tapes, sometimes I find that I have to separate the documents. There is a great integration feature with SmartVault, my favorite document management program. The price is reasonable for a business. My desk is very cluttered. I don’t have a lot of space for peripheral equipment. The ScanSnap S1500 is very compact when not in use – it folds up to take a small amount of space. When I want to use it, I unfold it and that automatically turns it on. Add the documents to the feeder, press one button, and it scans all of the documents. Both sides of the pages in a single pass, which is very helpful. Final Comments: this is not designed to be a shared scanner in an office with multiple users. You’ll have this on your desk for your own use. If you have a large office and you want to share scanning capabilities, this might not be your scanner.

  • Patrick Britton

Hi, I use ScanSnap to quickly and efficiently back up important documents. I am on the move constantly and therefore cannot carry masses of paper. Thanks! Patrick

  • Paul van Luipen

Moved to a flat recently and needed filing space. The answer presented itself in one of the computer magazines and a portable Fujitsu Scansnap S1100 was ordered and delivered after a few days. Incoming and outgoing documents are now being scanned and filed with a secure back-up being in place. Existing documents are also being scanned. This little machine creates so much space

  • Steve Mendrys, Home user

I bought a s1500 scanner for my mac just to make it easy to scan and store documents. Then one day my father asked me to go into the loft to find an old woodworking mag for some thing he wanted to make. well after several hours and loads of mag later i found it. then it came to me!!!!!! what if he could have all his mags (believe me hundreds of them ) all at his finger tips. so we got a batch down and cut off the folded edge about 2mm. then scanned the complete mag as a searchable PDF. He now has years and year of woodworking mags on his PC he can find any thing in a flash and we have now gained a lot of space in the loft. now just have to do the fishing DIY and Model boat mags. I my self have been doing all my old mags as well. the scanner is fast and so simple to use. WHY did i never think of this before now. how many of us have mags or clippings that we have kept in a box or case in the loft and don’t want to throw them away. Yet probably could not find them should we ever need to.. well thanks to snapscan I will not have that problem ever again.

  • David Corben, Estate Agent, Swanage

"Our back office was full of 6 years paper correspondence and the task of finding a required document was a nightmare. I started by buying an S510. The current year’s filing was effortlessly transferred to hard disk. When my accountant wanted our annual records, all invoices were scanned in, thus alleviating the difficulties when the files are out of the office. The benefit to our office was so great that I purchased a further two S1500s. We now scan but keep any legal documents or agreements but all other paper correspondence, once scanned is securely disposed of. Finding any document is now a simple task, achieved in 30 seconds and our back office has now been completely freed up of shelving. One of the best buys I have made for a busy office." David Corben, Estate Agent, Swanage

  • Nick Ross

Day 1 of my ScanSnap scanner. Desk now 50% clearer of paper - and with any luck the remaining 50% will go tomorrow. Looking forward to a clear desk (have forgotten what colour it is)…

  • Lara N., Crumlin

I THINK THE SCANSNAP S1500 IS AWESOME.

  • Isabelle Boutteville, Excel Place, France

We are specialists in service quality measure so we say 100% YES for SCANSNAP. Excel Place sends mystery clients in hotels, spas or deluxe shops. We have people based in different areas in the world, it was very difficult to manage the process of proof until I got a scansnap. We had to wait for the mail to arrive with the documents. With no exaggeration, the fact of sharing a scansnap with 3 colleagues on the same working area is really easy. We just need to activate it with 1 button. It has literally changed our day to day work. I can’t imagine my life without it as it really made us win nearly 1 hour per day... can you imagine. Now, we scan all our documents: invoices, contracts, receipt... and all the documents are then shared on a server.

  • Jim Marmion, Wood Group Gas Turbine Services, Scotland

I work offshore and in remote sites as do many of my staff. Getting important information back and forward between office, offshore staff, and other field staff engineers working remotely offshore or in foreign parts has always been difficult. However the size and convenience of this little device is fantastic, its slips easiliy into the laptop bag, weights practically nothing (0.35kg), so no issues taking on helicopter trips where due to weight baggage restrictions we are limited to a 10kg bag that includes all our working gear, personal clothing and electronic devices. So weight and size is extremely important. Engineers can now mark up drawings, fill in inspection reporting sheets and timesheets and a whole host of other things, all of which require customer signitures on the job with ease, and get them back to us immediately without any delay. Using this device has improved job efficiency, client reporting, job completion reports, wage and expense issues quickly. This is an excellent device and I would recommend it to all in the offshore oil and gas industry where they have similar requirements to ourselves.

  • RJG van der Horst, owner, Van der Horst Vastgoed, Netherlands

I highly recommend this scanner. Very simple to use. Excellent storage system for uploads. Transportable, don’t need power so super for on location work. Great stuff !! Worth every euro I spend on it.

Scansnap helps my small business behave like a BIG business - great little product that works like an extra pair of hands in the office taking all my paperwork and filing it away neat and tidy so I can always find it without moving from my chair and having to rummage through paperwork.

  • Cheryl Rucker, CARM Consulting, Inc.

I absolutely love my ScanSnap. I receive long contracts and proposals which I need to print out, sign and return to the customer. God forbid if it had printing on two sides! It used to take me hours because of paper jams, etc. Now, I look forward to it! I needed to scan tax returns to a company. Before my ScanSnap, it would have taken forever with it being double sided and over 20 pages. Bam! It was done and a PDF to boot. I had had this product for awhile now, and never experienced a jammed piece of paper. Not one issue. I loaded it on my Mac with Parallel for the Windows side, no problems. I absolutely never write about a product. I don’t have time. But, I thought everyone should know how wonderful this product is.

  • Richard Scott-Watson, RSWMedicoLegal Ltd

All old invoices, scanned. All documents not required on paper, scanned. Diagrams scanned and emailed. Paid for itself in a day and continues to do so.. What did I do without this great little machine?

  • Mike Leahy, Mike Leahy, Owner & Principal Instructor, Direct Training Services, South Yorkshire

At the end of each day I have to scan in around 12 sides of A4. Not a lot you may think but to do it on a flat bed scanner took some time to place under the scanner, warm up time, turn the page, change page then file. With a ScanSnap all this changed, put the lot in the scanner, press to start and that’s really about all there is to it. It even remembers where I have been saving documents so I go right back to the file quickly every time. The ScanSnap is small but has the feel of being well built. There are faster scanners on the market but really this is as fast as you will really need, unless you have huge quantities to scan. The ScanSnap is saving me around 2 hours each week and is so easy to set up and use.

  • Ron A., Boston

Used it at an office at which I was acting as a consultant and just had to buy one for my own business! Simple to use, small in size but powerful in output. Fast and has automatic sensor settings that save valuable time in not having to continually change settings.

  • Liam Hemmings, in-house lawyer, Sinclair Investments

Creative/Media

  • Brian Carroll, Crimzn

As a Sole Trader working in video production, online Cloud services have now allowed me to reduce the clutter of paperwork and concentrate on getting out and doing productive work. The ScanSnap S1100 is an essential tool on my desk and allows me automatically send OCR PDF’s to my Google Apps Business account - perfect for keeping searchable digital copies of incoming invoices, receipts and correspondence.

  • Graham Humphrys, head of design, evolve creative, London

I have been using the ScanSnap for about 3 years now and find it an excellent tool to keep my paper load down to a minimum. Love its ease of use and shear simplicity. My day to day job consists of sending a lot of scamps and visuals for mock ups. The ScanSnap provides an uncompromisable tool that allows my freehand visuals to become digital paper. From Pencil to email its unbelievably easy, Fujitsu has this market nailed!

  • Amanda Ferrufino, account manager, evolve creative, London

I use my ScanSnap S1500M every day! It sits neatly on my desk next to my MAC and I use it to scan remittances, invoices and copies of statements to clients and colleagues. It saves me at least an hour each day and also helps the environment as otherwise I would have to photocopy the documents and fax them.

  • Jill Clark, Credit Controller, Clark Web Development Ltd

The accountants always want copies of our bank statements and purchases - it used to take at least two solid days of scanning the paperwork to be able to send to them. With Scansnap we can now do everything in about 1 hour. Scansnap is so brilliant we have showed our clients and on our recommendation they have or are considering purchasing a Scansnap for their office. At the moment we are purchasing another Scansnap for our satellite office. The Scansnap saves us time - ease of finding our informational and is such excellent value for money - the size of the Scansnap makes it transportable which is a further plus, we use it everyday. All we can say is thank you Scansnap for making our lives easier.

  • Andy Wright, Carino Communications, High Wycombe

As a busy Web design house, we bought a ScanSnap S1500 to streamline our accounts and administration. Now we can scan purchase invoices straight onto our server and email bills easily to clients. We can also scan documents to online services such as Evernote so they are available to all members of the team, anytime, anywhere. We are looking forward to getting a S1300 portable scanner that our designers and developers can use on the road and in client premises.

  • Howard W., Ulverston

This is our second unit. We purchased the first one on 23rd April 2010. It scans so fast that we have purchased another.

  • Keith B., Ely

This device is just fantastic. The speed is incredible and it is simply revolutionising my workflow. I just wish more people knew about this device and it was more accessible to purchase (with ability to see it working)

Financial Services

  • Nico Vis, financial services, Netherlands

I wanted to digitise my archive on aerospace and travelling in space; a flatbed scanner was far too slow, so I bought your S1500. Installing was a piece of cake, the scanner started to work as soon as software was installed, without any problem. After first results I also started to digitise word, powerpoint and excel documents (backup of guidelines, documentation of presentations and spreadsheets etc) for archive purposes. Speed of ScanSnap is very good. I even intend to buy a portable ScanSnap for archive purposes being on the road.

  • John Grayshan, Accountant, Littleborough

A marvellous piece of kit. I particularly like the speed with which ScanSnap converts data to a pdf attachment to e-mail. Saves me a lot of time and the speed with which I can respond to requests for information must impress clients.

Healthcare

  • Kath Stott, Vision Aid Overseas

My organisation, VAO, supports a new Optical Centre in the Eye Department of Korle-Bu Hospital, Accra, Ghana. This makes and provides low cost spectacles for the patients and staff of the hospital. The manager uses ScanSnap connected to a Netbook to scan all invoices and receipts, and downloads them onto a Cloud programme. This gives me instant information back in the UK and when I make my six-monthly visit, more time can be spent on training, and less on auditing.

  • Christian Dutton, ROKA International Charity

I recently assisted with a project in Tibet to help people in need wherever necessary, regardless of religion or culture. I took with me a ScanSnap S1300 portable scanner. I chose to create a profile; this was very straightforward and allowed me to customise the settings… There is the option of setting up multiple profiles which is easy, useful and saves a lot of time. When I arrived in Tibet, my colleagues had been working at an orphanage school where they had been scanning 2-sided student data files with a flatbed scanner. It had taken them several days to scan only 30 students; with the S1300 I completed almost 100 students within just a few hours As the electricity was sporadic the option of USB power was very useful. It worked well in sub-zero temperatures, dusty environment and at up to 5000m. Overall a great product, highly recommended and excellent value.

  • Rainer Wolf, surgeon, Kreiskrankenhaus Grünstadt, Germany

A year ago I decided to scan all my documents and store them on my PC to reduce the papers in my rack and to find them quickly, wherever I am with my Notebook or to save them in the cloud. I used my flatscanner for this until I saw a document scanner. Now I have the ScanSnap S1300 and I save a lot of time now. I use the PaperPort Programm from NUANCE to organize my documents.

  • Steve Keay, field engineer, healthcare

I use my scan snap after completing each visit and use it in my car every day to email my paperwork whilst out and about which allows me to be more efficient and keep my paperwork up to date.

  • Martin Pendry, Osteopath. London

This Fujitsu S1300 replaces an older Fujitsu SnapScanner as the previous scanner had started to wear out and this allows me to update the software as well. The three main things that I love my scanner for is: * Keeping a record of those statements the utility companies send ~ How long should you keep the paper version? * Keeping receipts of things bought. * Keeping notes from courses that I attend for my professional development. The secret is to have a very simple naming congestion to file and rename the pdfs. I use the company/item-subject/date to name things. Keep it simple.

  • Tim Husband, Owner, Tim Husband Hearing Healthcare

I am an audiologist involved in medico-legal assessments, industrial testing and hearing aid dispensing to the public. All of which means I spend a good deal of time out and about producing reports and tests. Part of the service I offer all my clients is retention of the produced records for later comparison or production in litigation. Before I bought the ScanSnap S1300 I either had to laboriously scan in every report back at base or write them out by hand to ensure I had a duplicate. Now I can be in a remote location with my mobile audiology suite, testing kit and ScanSnap and not only can I produce an instantaneous digital copy on my hard drive but with 3G I can store in the cloud using an encrypted service. Equally in my business I get handed a large number of business cards. To ensure these contacts are retained and leveraged for further business I use the ScanSnaps almost magical ability to extract the contact details from the cards and import the data into my contacts. The ScanSnap is incredible for the money and I’d happily recommend it to anyone with similar needs

  • Jonathan Jones, Consultant Neuroradiologist, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust

I’m a consultant neuroradiologist at a busy teaching hospital. And slightly disorganised. I have a ScanSnap S1500M at home and a S1300 on my desk at work. This enables me to capture everything that comes across my desk just about anywhere. The good thing about the scanners are they’re quick & reliable so it doesn’t matter if it’s unobtrusively scanning a request form at work whilst I’m discussing the case with the referring clinician or scanning the hefty proceedings of a conference as soon as I get back through the door at home... I no longer think about it... once it’s done I no longer have to worry about it taking up space physically or mentally and can just get on with the rest of my life!

  • Dr. Osman Bhatti, National Health Service, UK

Working in the NHS, great care needs to be taken with document management as patient confidentiality is paramount. The ScanSnap certainly makes scanning literally a snap and not only does it scan fast and accurately, it is so versatile and portable.

  • Adam Claridge-Chang

Simply amazing machine. Makes handling documents almost effortless. Now I have gone nearly paperless in almost everything I do - no more rifling through filing cabinets! I can email documents in minutes. People are stunned when I show them what it can do. Miles ahead of any other office electronics I have ever used.

  • Thant Z., Doctor, Telford

IT Services

  • Maciej Burda, EXATEL S.A., Poland

One day I had a lot of work to do and on my desk I found a stack of invoices numbering over two hundred. Fortunately I have recently bought a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100 and the scanner has done its job perfectly. Its small size did not take lot of space on your desk and its software really impacted during OCR. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a scanner with small dimensions and high functionality.

  • Remigiusz Franek, B2B Strategy Customer Care Director, Orange Poland

I love to have everything in order. I hate mess when everything is not well organized. Since 3 years I am using Get Things Done Methodology in my life both at home and at work. The only problem which over and over was in my head was paper. Ton of papers: documents, agreements, tax statements, medical results, coupons, invoices. I had over 6 folders with over 1,000 paper documents. I tried to organize them in the right categories but anyway there was always two problems: changing categories was very very hard for each document and I always need the document when I was not at home (Murphy’s law :). I tried to scan them using my iPhone with a scan app and it was good for up to 10 pages, with over 1,000 it was not possible to get it quickly and with very good quality. I tried also to use a professional Xerox machine at work but then copying to usb drive, bringing home and importing Evernote was also not convenient. And then …. I’ve seen one tweet about Fujitsu ScanSnap. The guy who wrote the tweet was really excited and he was writing that he will buy one for him. So I started to dig for some piece of information about mobile scanners :), after 3 weeks I was sure that I needed one :). I was looking into the S1100 as this was the one which fitted my requirements and had very good reviews. After a week I’ve got it at home. During the weekend I scanned all my 1,000 pages into Evernote with backup on Google Drive. Now I feel like a newborn baby :) because anywhere I go my documents are with me. My wife was recently with my 2 year daughter at the doctors. It was the first time she had not to carry a backup with all medical exams, usg scans :). All she needed was an Ipad with Evernote :). She was so happy that the next day she asked whether she can use our scanner to handle her work documents :). So we did :). So thanks to ScanSnap … so small device … so much can be achieved :). Thanks !!! For Everything Your VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER

We have more than 100 ScanSnaps in the office, and 0 problems. They are robust, compact, very fast scanners and really good money for value!. A must have in the office and at home. You need to send a copy of an important document? No problem with this scanner, in a few seconds you have the digital version of the document. Now it’s an everyday part of my life!

  • Philippe ASTIER, IT consultant, France

My accountant recommended me to use a ScanSnap for all the paperwork we have day to day and also scanning business cards. Today, I’m really happy I listened to him, as my productivity just sky rocketed ! I can scan anything in seconds, and the software is just awesome. Integration is very good. I’ve used a lot of various scanners over the last 20 years, but this is the first time I have one which is so efficient.

  • Richard West, Freelance

Before ScanSnap my home was bursting under piles of receipts, bills, bank statements etc. Now everything I receive goes through my ScanSnap then straight into the shredder! There’s no paper to store and no wasted hours looking for some vital document since everything is easy to find. Fantastic!

  • Alex Lorenzo, IT project manager, Spain

We have eliminated 95 % of paper in all companies who installed these scanners, and all these companies can now see their documents in the cloud.

  • Tomaz Gajser, 3 lan, d.o.o., Slovenia

  • Stephern Maddrell, business analyst, CPI, London

My Scansnap is my space machine! I create space and a better living environment by speedily scanning in bulky dusty files. I get organized by scanning and filing my paperwork. And I have fun scanning in my old photos, and that clever software scales the photo to fill my screen. Well done Fujitsu!

  • Franc Mayer, COO, Contesto GmbH, Munich

Every piece of paper I scan everywhere. Because I’m always on tour. So I can’t take any papers with me. My favorite platform to store my documents is evernote. So I’m able to access to my documents all over the world. And sometime I can a few of them. Great thing such a mobile scanner.

Used it at an office at which I was acting as a consultant and just had to buy one for my own business! Simple to use, small in size but powerful in output. Fast and has automatic sensor settings that save valuable time in not having to continually change settings.
