Success for Fujitsu as they are recognised as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer

London, November 14, 2014

Fujitsu has been recognised in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer list which is compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds and recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices.

The list was announced at the National Apprenticeship Awards, which took place during The Skills Show in Birmingham on the 13th November. The Skills Show has City & Guilds as its premier sponsor, and is a unique celebration to inspire people with reciting opportunities in further education, skills and apprenticeships.

After a tough selection process the most exceptional apprenticeship employers from all National Apprenticeship Awards employer categories went forward to feature in the list, which showcases the breadth of employers who now offer apprenticeships.

Fujitsu has a well-established Apprenticeship Scheme, with over 130 apprentices currently employed by the business in Intermediate and Advanced apprenticeships. Over several years, Fujitsu has employed a number of apprentices across the country, many from high areas of unemployment, to take on a wide variety of important roles, from customer facing ones – manning service desks to help resolve customer queries; to technical and practical roles, where they learn a range of programming and operating skills.

At the end of their training, Fujitsu apprentices are offered full time positions, providing secure, well paid careers and allowing the company to gain the technical expertise it needs.

Commenting on the company’s entry in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer’s list, Fujitsu’s HR Director, Ella Bennett, said:
“We are incredibly proud to be included in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer’s list Fujitsu has been committed to recruiting young people into the IT industry for several years. We believe that young employees are able to take a fresh look at challenges and come up with innovative solutions to business problems.

“We believe that apprenticeships are integral to growing a solid skills base in the UK and driving continued economic growth. For us supporting apprentices is a key factor strengthening UK employment and supporting and the wider UK economy.”

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg congratulated Fujitsu on being named a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer:
“This year’s Top 100 Apprenticeship employers have demonstrated the huge impact on the young people they invest in and the many benefits for their organisations.

“Apprentices help employers develop a skilled and qualified workforce to build a strong economy, whilst creating a fairer society where young people can get on and go far in some of Britain’s best companies.

“I would encourage more businesses across England to follow these shining examples and find out how apprenticeships can help them build a skilled, motivated and highly qualified workforce.”

CEO and Director General of City & Guilds, Chris Jones, said:
“It’s fantastic to celebrate the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers. They should be proud of their role in helping people fain the skills the need to be successful. After all, apprenticeships are a great way for people to earn as they learn, and they bring countless benefits to businesses.”
