Fujitsu Recognised as a Challenger in European Data Centre Outsourcing Services

Fujitsu UK & Ireland

September 16, 2011

Fujitsu has been recognised by the research and advisory firm Gartner, Inc. in its annual report, “Gartner Magic Quadrant: European Data Centre Outsourcing & Utility Services(1)”, as a Challenger in Data Centre Service across Europe.

Fujitsu has challenged competitors through the deployment of cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) / Infrastructure Utility Services (IUS) as a key efficiency enabler alongside established efficiency improvements such as IT virtualisation and IT system management automation.

Fujitsu continues to challenge its competitors through investment of $1.2 billion in cloud technology and capability, including the establishment of a standard Global Cloud Platform delivering trusted server and storage functionality over a secure network from Fujitsu's data centres in the UK, across Europe and the rest of the World. The Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering is used by business and government alongside Fujitsu’s bespoke managed services.

Gartner assessed Fujitsu as a Challenger in the Magic Quadrant based on its “Ability to Execute” and “Completion of Vision”.

David Steven, head of Global Infrastructure Offering Management at Fujitsu UK and Ireland, commented “We believe Fujitsu’s placement within the Gartner Magic Quadrant demonstrates that Fujitsu is a significant player in Data Centre Service, with a trusted capability and are pleased that our efforts to transform the efficiency of customer IT systems has been recognised in this way. We take on board Gartner’s positioning of Fujitsu as a Challenger, counting this as valuable insight in our continued evolution.”
